[restrict paid=”true”]

01:37 – Christine Franklyn

I am so ready.

01:38 – Gresham Harkless

Awesome. Well, let's do it then. So to kick everything off, I wanted to rewind the clock a little bit, hear a little bit more about how you got started, and what I like to call your CEO story.

01:46 – Christine Franklyn

Sure. Well, I experienced burnout, which is why it's a passion of mine to help others escape or prevent what I went through. And because I experienced burnout, it suddenly made me more aware of what was going on around me with other executives. And I realized that people generally, who have high-pressure jobs or who are CEOs or who are business owners can easily get trapped in this cycle of doing, doing, doing, and be on a path to burnout and not even realize it. And that just really hit home for me. As for myself, I ended up developing a system that would turn things around for me bit by bit.

I didn't have someone to help guide me, so I had to kind of figure it out all on my own. And, of course, that's the hard way to do things. So I decided it would be so much better for me to be able to help others who may be on this path and may want to get off of it before something more serious escalates with their health or they have some other problem that occurs in their life, like with their relationships, that can be easily impacted by having a stressful life and a very busy schedule.

So that's where the passion started. And my first step was creating a health and wellness blog. And also, I went on to create my own business. Remember, I had the burnout when I was an executive and I knew, I always knew that I was going to have my own business. And within that, I had clients who were entrepreneurs and I saw how stretched and frazzled they were. And it really concerned me literally. I just wanted to help them so badly. That's why I ended up deciding that this is the group in particular that I really want to work with because I could see right in front of me the same pitfalls that I fell into happening with other people.

There is a better way. Let's just stop for a minute. Let's just assess what's going on, and let's see if we can find a better path to still have fulfillment and success, but have true fulfillment in every area of life. So that was really how my journey into the specific kind of health and wellness coaching that I do came about. And I also have always had a certain zest for life. And I think part of that comes from the fact that I had a brother who had cerebral palsy, and it's really not to be wasted. And I have always believed in sinking my teeth into life. So, I traveled the world. I've lived in Boston, London, and Canada. But there was a certain point where I was energized by constant sunshine and the sea and having my friends and family around me.

Then I felt that that was my guiding light and my intuition has been a major guiding light for me throughout. So I think that's what helped me even when I didn't have someone to kind of pull me back and guide me. And so that's another important element of my coaching as well. Really tuning in, listening to what's going on in your body, and tuning into that also important gut feeling. So all of that led me to return to Barbados and know that somehow, I didn't know how, but somehow from here, I would continue to travel, which I love. I would continue to have a business that would be international. And that has really come to pass even though at the time I didn't know what would happen. So it's so important to trust that feeling and to really take the support and take the help that's available to you. So that's the essence of why I do what I do.

06:12 – Gresham Harkless

Awesome. Well, I appreciate you so much for sharing your story. Obviously, sorry to hear about your brother and how difficult and challenging that might have been. But as you said so well, I think sometimes we forget, first of all, that there are so many different elements of life. So when you mentioned that burnout, I think so many times, type a people, people that are driven, that is, executive, whatever title they might be given, but they definitely wanna get to somewhere. Sometimes we can forget about those aspects because we're so laser-focused on whether it's top-line revenue or a number of employees or whatever it might be. We sometimes lose sight of the holistic aspect of life.

So I love that you've been able to take your experiences and be able to be of help to that and kind of very much in the same way as you mentioned with your brother to understand that there is a better way, there is an alternative, there is a way that you can build your life around, your mission and vision and things that you wanna do, and you'll have to sacrifice all those different aspects of your business. It's extremely powerful that you've been able to go through those experiences and be able to sound like ingrain them in everything that you do.

07:17 – Christine Franklyn

Yes. Yes. Totally.

07:20 – Gresham Harkless

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So I know you touched a little bit upon, like, how you work with your clients. So I wanted to drill down a little bit more to hear how that process goes and how you serve the clients you work with.

07:29 – Christine Franklyn

Well, primarily, I work in two forms, always using my Power Up Formula. And those two forms are intensives or one-on-one online coaching. So for the intensives, the important thing is that I have stepped into something that I've been envisioning for years, literally. And so I offer personalized retreats in Barbados. So if you want to have an intensive for three days, four days, and have a retreat at the same time that allows you to take a step back literally in a change of scenery, in a place where you can take a real breath and start to reflect on your journey and where you want to go and how you want to get there, then that's an option.

But, of course, not everyone can do that, especially, since things are a bit challenging right now, so there's the virtual option as well. And for those who want to really have support and accountability and to take a journey where they'll encounter challenges in six months and know how to face them because we're going through it together in a program. There's also the one-on-one coaching as an option. I am a big believer in having support and systems. So one of the key things I do when I'm working with clients is to look at what is on their plate, and how can we take some of those things off of that plate.

So I have a network of service providers who provide done-for-you services and systems that can literally take some of those key elements that are not necessarily the best use of your time off of your plate so there's less to worry about, so there are fewer fires to put out that you yourself have to put out, and finally help you to make yourself a priority. And once we do that, then the focus turns to optimizing your life. So how can we then look at your habits and how do we optimize those for you to then multiply your profits? Because that is absolutely key. Then you're energized. Then you have mental clarity.

That's where you'll take your business and your life to the next level, and you'll feel proud and successful in every area. And I don't know anybody who doesn't want that. So I have realized for myself and for others that the focus of the schedule is the very real practical thing that needs to be taken care of first and foremost, and that is the key to really optimizing your health and well-being.

10:04 – Gresham Harkless

Yeah. That makes so much sense, and I love that you work with your clients through understanding that. Would you consider that to be, like, your CEO hack, the thing that you feel makes you more effective and efficient is really paying attention to that.

10:16 – Christine Franklyn

Well, I would say that's my secret sauce.

10:19 – Gresham Harkless

Uh-huh.

10:20 – Christine Franklyn

But my CEO hack is, I'm very practical, a simple app.

10:26 – Gresham Harkless

Yeah.

10:26 – Christine Franklyn

And that is Daily Burn. This goes to some of what you might expect when you hear health, but some that you might not think of. So Daily Burn is a fitness app, but for me, it's been so much more. I've used it since 2014 consistently, and I literally rely on it because it serves me every day. No matter how busy my day is, I know I can start my day with physical and mental activity that will really help me to be effective in everything I have to do, and get me ready for whatever might come my way during the day.

That is absolutely key for me to really set the tone for my day. So it offers everything. If I feel really, energized, then I have a boost of energy. I can do a HIIT workout. Or on another day, I might feel like, okay. This is a recovery day. It's essential for both my physical and mental wellness. So that really has helped me for years now to have mental clarity and the energy that I really need to get through the day.

11:41 – Gresham Harkless

Nice. I absolutely love that. I appreciate you sharing that and that app, especially because I think it's so important. So I want to ask you now for what I call a CEO nugget. So this is a little bit more of a word of wisdom or piece of advice. It could be something that you would tell your favorite client, or if you hopped into a time machine, you might tell your younger business self.

12:00 – Christine Franklyn

Well, funny enough, we've almost touched on that, and I think you've mentioned it a couple of times. And for me, that is the power of community. And there's an African proverb, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. And I totally believe in that. I have seen the power of having the right people around me. And it's ironic because I've always been very independent, even as a child. I'll pull myself up by my bootstraps kinda gal. So for me to say this, trust me. It shows that it's really powerful. I have experience in group coaching programs and networking groups I have had so much support that without it, I think I honestly might have given up.

Because as entrepreneurs, we need that support to help us on this roller coaster ride that we're on. Because realistically, that's what it is. No matter what level we're at, there's always that bit of something pops up and we have to regroup and keep going. I believe that this is extremely important. It's absolutely critical for every CEO. In that community, I highly recommend having a mentor or coach, as well as people who are ahead of you on your journey and those who are maybe at the same stage that you are. All of these people will help lift you up keep you motivated help you avoid some pitfalls and just guide you along the way and let you know that you're not alone. And that is extremely important. I absolutely believe that that is really the secret to success.

13:40 – Gresham Harkless

I love kind of the nugget within the nugget that you gave about making sure that you are building and around a community. And I want to ask you now my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. And we're hoping to have different quotes, unquote CEOs on their social, Christine. What does being a CEO mean to you?

13:58 – Christine Franklyn

As a CEO, I believe that we are servants as well as leaders. We are here to serve. And in order to really serve, it's important to make ourselves a priority and the but stops with us. And in order to really fulfill that role, it's important to ensure that we are really on our A-Game and we are showing up as the best version of ourselves.

14:33 – Gresham Harkless

Well, Christine, truly appreciate that definition and that perspective. Of course, I appreciate your time even more. So what I wanted to do now was pass you the mic, so to speak, just to see if there's anything additional that you can let our readers and listeners know and, of course, how best people can get a hold of you and find about all the awesome things that you're working on.

14:50 – Christine Franklyn

Well, the key thing that I always love to mention is that your body and your intuition are always sending messages to you. So it's really, really important to tune in, especially because we are so busy, we have so many demands on us. We really need to take some time. I mean, literally. It's important to take a minute to check in with ourselves and assess what's happening with us.

We should consider not only what's immediately in front of us, but also what else is going on that we may want to change in order to perform at our best. And in terms of how you can reach me, my website is iamhealthywealthy.com. I'm also on LinkedIn. Just search for Christine Franklyn with L-Y-N in the spelling of my last name.
