IAM2435 – Unveiling the Franchise Broker Journey
Special Episode by Gresham Harkless Jr.

In this special episode, Gresham Harkless is nearing day 40 of his journey and considers himself “ready” to start after completing training. He has an upcoming presentation and is preparing a deck for it.
Gresham acknowledges the challenge of juggling multiple responsibilities, citing the quote, “He or she who chases two rabbits catches none.”
He intends to refine his focus through a “detox” process—eliminating unnecessary distractions and making tough decisions about what to prioritize.
Gresham also mentions dealing with an issue at his rental property, which adds another demand on his time and energy, reinforcing the need for clear priorities.
In addition, Gresham emphasizes the importance of simplifying tasks and focusing on essential goals, particularly as he moves into his next 12-week planning cycle.

Intro 00:01
Are you ready to hear business stories and learn effective ways to build relationships, generate sales, and level up your business from awesome CEOs, entrepreneurs, and founders without listening to a long, long, long interview?
If so, you've come to the right place. Gresh values your time and is ready to share with you the valuable info you're in search of. This is the I AM CEO Podcast.
Gresham Harkless 00:29
Hello, hello, hello. This is Gresh from the I AM CEO Podcast. And this is a special episode of our I AM CEO Podcast.
And this is actually going to be a snippet of a snippet, so to speak. I'm just doing an intro because I've been starting to document my journey into starting what is now called Blue Star Franchise.
We're also going to do a kind of sub site within CB Nation called Franchise CEO. So you'll see some links in the show notes related to that.
But just wanted to give you a little bit more insight, give you a little bit more color in some of the aspects of why I'm actually doing this.
Because one of the things I was doing as I was going through training to start up this new business was realizing and hearing from the founder of FBA, the Franchise Brokers Association, that it'd be really cool to document your journey going through and building this out.
I think it's something that would be super helpful, obviously for people that are looking for and thinking about starting franchises.
But frankly, if you're starting anything, any type of business, I think it's really cool to kind of just even see the journey and how it's been going from there.
So I'm going to share a few of those snippets from the, from the first couple of videos that have been created.
But definitely, of course, subscribe to our YouTube, check out a lot more where I figure out exactly where we're going to post this.
So I'll have that information that's available to you. But regardless, if you're a builder, continue to keep building, continue to do your thing.
The world definitely needs exactly what you're trying to build and needs you to be your unique self.
So make sure to run your own race, because nobody can run your race like you. This is Gresh signing out. I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.
And today is another day. I just wanted to talk a little bit around distractions. I think it's almost day 40 maybe.
But continue to kind of go through this journey to be a franchise broker, see what that looks like.
And I started to define like where I'm at based off of how I finished with training, because that's when you're quote unquote ready to kind of get started.
I have a presentation tomorrow, actually, so that should be good. Hopefully the press won't show up.
And I think he's excited, at least about the opportunities. And I have to try to find those great fits for him.
So getting the presentation, the deck to read together is what's going to be a really big focus.

But I just wanted to talk a little bit around distractions. There's a quote that he or she who chases two rabbits catches none.
And I think sometimes I feel like I might be, chasing too many rabbits and more than two.
And I think that figure out like what things to kind of filter out, what things are not going to be essential.
And what I said and I have as one of my 12 week goals is kind of to do detox, essentially. And to get rid of those things that aren't essential to where you want to be.
And I think that is going to be a huge thing that I continue to kind of work on. It means, of course, you have to make some really tough decisions.
But at the same time, you have to really go through and figure out what's happening, what's not happening, how to improve those things.
So with that being said, it's essential to continue to kind of take those steps in order to kind of get better, to improve.
But I think when you are kind of having your focus broken up, it can be a little bit more of a challenge for that to happen.
With that being said, I also have a rental property. A rental property, something has happened there.
So I have to check on that. So again, this is another thing that kind of takes away from your energy, your time and in your efforts and you have to really get very clear on what that is that you want to do and then kind of lean more into that.
So that's kind of like where I'm at. And that's kind of some of the things that I ultimately put into place and really figure out what to do and what that next step is going to be.
But more than anything else, I think it's just understanding that you have a tremendous opportunity to do some really great things.
And, sometimes when you see and have like so many opportunities, it can kind of get you to a place where you are stretched more than you want to be.
So that's something I got to continue to kind of work on, continue to kind of see how I can filter and detox the things that I'm focused on.
So that I could show up as my best self in all aspects of that I need. But that's one of the challenges that you have.
It's like, that's why you hear a lot of people, what they'll do is they're not trying to do all the things.
They're trying to do the things that is the most important, the most impactful, the most relevant to what they're ultimately trying to do.
And I have to figure out what that is. And I have to continue to kind of filter out those things and refined the things that I'm focused on so that I can show up as my best self.
And that's going to evolve and change. And I think that's the reality of kind of like where I'm at and what, what I could do.
So, it's exciting time, but at the same time, it's like, getting, letting go of that rung. So you can swing to the next one and just what that looks like.
So, this is it for today. A little bit of a quicker update. And yeah, just kind of go from there.
If you're working on anything, just try to figure out how you could make it simpler and focus those things.
And I think especially going into my next 12 weeks and my next goals, that's going to be something I'm really, really going to be focused on.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. And of course, looking forward to giving you more and more updates.
