I am doing well and super excited to have you on. And before we jump into the interview, I want to read a little bit more about Lisa so you can hear about all the awesome things that she's doing. Lisa is the owner and operator of Healing Seasons Wellness in Stafford, Virginia, where she offers a variety of alternative wellness services.

Absolutely. We want the clock a little bit on how you got started, what I call your CEO story.

How I got started, kind of started with my health, my own health. I dealt with some challenges in my health many, many years ago, being a young wife or military wife with 2 children. And I was just ill. Started out plant-based, but there were no guidelines on plant-based. So it kind of, you know, won't want it a little bit. And my health was still deteriorating. Raising my children, I decided to really be set to go deeper. So I cut out some things, went back to school, and did some training on how to really focus on my health.
And from that, I began to get questions how are you doing this and how did you recover? And it just snowballed into a business. And so that's where Healing Season came from. And based on my nutrition, going totally plant-based, That's where the kitchen in my life came from because I began to make all these wonderful meals, and people were wanting to know what to do. So I incorporated the 2.
Counseling came in because there were a lot of mental health issues that even dealing with my own sickness, it was really difficult to be a mom, a wife, you know, and being in the community and working and trying to hold it all together. So counseling came in that way where I could really begin to look at the whole person. And so that's what the healing season is. I can look at the emotional well-being. I can look at the nutrition perspective, the physical perspective, and the fitness perspective. Are you getting the exercise that you need? Everything is so connected. And so that's how it snowballed into what it is today.

I appreciate that. And of course to hear that you had to think so many times when you experienced that you should help out so many other people as well.

Absolutely. I think it's purpose. You know, you really get to know your call to do certain things, and then that is meant for you at that moment, but it's so many other people that need that. And I'm so grateful because I was able to encounter people feeling similar things and some things different, but they were struggling. And oftentimes we look at the health portion, but we don't look at the mental health portion.
You know, we look at the mental health portion and we don't look at the health portion. And I just, I'm so grateful that I was able to marry those together and look at the person as a whole. And I'm just honored to be able to assist in so many a variety of areas for people that I serve.

Absolutely, and I say so many times that I say it, especially in business, but I think we can also say it in life too, that we forget about that human aspect and the holistic human aspect of it. So that's why I love that you're able to kind of, you know, treat the person as a whole and understand each of those different paths. So I know I touched on it a little in your bio and you did as you take us through a little business and how you work and how you serve them.

A colon hydrotherapy is one colon hydrotherapy is a l tells people we change our season, you know, but we body, we change the oil, for our vehicles, but we carry a lot of things in our bodies. So colon hydrotherapy is that inner part that I'm dealing with. We cleanse the colon, we can cleanse a lot of things. There's that brain-gut connection. So depression, all of those things can be interconnected.
So we look at that. In addition to that, I offer a lot of nutritional coaching, meal planning, helping clients to change their diet, also interrelational. A lot of times if you're not feeling well, your relationships are auto-whacked. So yeah, again, everything is interconnected. I do offer CryoSkin too, and that's generally for my clients who've been done all the other things and they've gotten to that point where I just can't get rid of that excess. Well, cryoskin helps with that.
But again, also I incorporate that dietary piece and that emotional well-being piece because everything has to work together You can lose weight or lose inches, but if you haven't changed your behavior, your behaviors, and your mindset, then you know you kind of setting yourself up for failure. So those are the things I do. I also do a lot of teaching. I speak at various, I do some public speaking, speaking at churches, and colleges, and speaking at small businesses, and large businesses on productivity and wellness.
Oftentimes we want our employees to be productive, but we don't look at their wellness portion. So how are they dealing with, especially now in COVID, the stress of COVID? So how do you encourage your employees? Or how do you use yourself as a business owner? As business owners, we go through a lot. And you don't want to tell your employees, I'm stressed, or I haven't slept, or my digestive system is all out of whack because, you know, they look to you as their leader.
So I'm that person that business owners come to me and say, hey, I'm really stressed. So I've worked with them throughout that and helped them to be productive and then also help their employees be productive. As far as the books, I travel speaking on my books, not so much now with COVID, but I used to travel speaking on the 5 pillars of wellness.
And again, those 5 pillars deal with interrelation issues, your personal relationships, it deals with nutrition, health, it deals with their emotional well-being, which is that centerpiece. Again, everything teeters on your emotional well-being. So that's healing season and that's down.

Do you feel that's part of what I like to call your secret sauce? The thing you feel kind of sets you either personally apart or the business apart, businesses apart and make a unique. Is it that ability interconnectedness and also of everything that you're Absolutely? You see a person they're dealing with a me a physical issue. They're that issue. It doesn't matter.
You know, often I have diabetes or I have this or no, you're a person that has to deal with a certain issue, but seeing that person as a person first. And so yes, I'm living with diabetes. Yes, I'm living with an emotional issue, whether it's depression or what have you. Yes, I'm living with this. But the key word is I'm living with this. It doesn't have hold of me. It doesn't define me. I'm living with this because

now you're empowered because now I have control because there are some things I can do. So yeah, absolutely.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah, I love how you have that awareness of it because like I said, we so many times forget about that human part, Whether we're talking about food, we're talking about emotional relationships, all of that starts, we forget about the person. And I love that you kind of put that it sounds like very much so on at the forefront. And so I wanted to switch gears a little bit. And I want to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an app, a book a habit t something That makes you efficient?

I trust in God that time out and praying for myself and my relationship so caught up, especially running and running two businesses. So, back to my relationship with my family, my husband and I and we're talking about things that we wanna do and fun things and just having a good time because we can get so consumed with a business that business controls us and we don't control business.
So I would say that that's my hack really, and it's not always easy at all. Sometimes that conversation can ease until a dinner night, a date night, but really taking their time and saying, okay, nope, let's stop. And this is just us because I need to be separate from my business. And if I'm teaching and working with my clients to be separate from an issue or disorder, I need to learn to be separate from my business. And it's a daily process. But that would be my hack. Just definitely learn. Remember I am me first and then the business is its own entity.

Yeah absolutely I love that and I love that you know the word relationship, especially to relationship with God, relationship with the ones that are around us as well. And I think so many times we forget or can lose ourselves maybe a better way to say it in other parts of the business or sometimes even in relationships with other people where we don't realize the interconnectedness of who we are as well. So I love those relationships and how you're able to cultivate them and create time and space for them. Because that creates the wholeness of who we are and the uniqueness of everything that we want to be.

For sure. For sure. It's important. You know, we teach that constantly, especially when dealing with relationship issues. And you have to see who you are first. Doesn't mean that you kind of push that person to the side, but you're whole better when you're whole by yourself. And then you come together, you're greater whole. So that's the key.

Yeah, absolutely. You become 2 holes making an even whole. I guess you could say even stronger hole or then and that's when those relationships really go to a different level and so what would you consider to be what I like to call a CEO nugget? So this is kind of a word of wisdom or a piece of advice. It might be something you would tell a client or if you have to do a time machine, you might tell your younger business self.

Yeah, if you fall, get up. Because in business, my goodness, you have some ups and you have some downs. Business is going into business is so exciting. It's like being that child at Christmas. You get that toy that you really want it forever. And then all of a sudden you're like, I gotta read the instructions. Now I gotta figure out how to do this. And now there's an update and all of this.
But I would say, get up. You know, it's so hard. You kind of look at it like, wow, I'm overwhelmed, this business is growing and I'm just so consumed. And sometimes you fail. That's okay. It's okay to fail. The key is getting up, dusting yourself off, acknowledging that you failed, because getting rid of pride, I think pride is so horrible because you're like, oh, well, yeah, it wasn't my fault. Yeah, sometimes it was. Acknowledging that and then getting up and learning. So fall, get up, acknowledge, and learn.

Yeah, I absolutely love that nugget. And I think so many times, I kind of remind myself, anytime you see a child that's learning how to walk, the first thing they'll fall down and they'll get back up and they'll do it again. And you even see like the people around them, they're cheering them on saying, hey, you can do it, but we don't do that same thing to ourselves.
Or we forget to do that for ourselves when we're trying something new or we're starting a new venture or a new business or a new service or whatever, we won't share ourselves on and get back up. So I love that because it reminds us of that process and that journey and we can tap into that because we realized that the way to succeed is sometimes by falling and getting back up and doing it over and over again.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I wanted to ask you now my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. And we're hoping to have different quote-unquote CEOs on the show. So Lisa, what does being a CEO mean to you?

It means embracing the gift that you've been given to do a job that you've been blessed to get to. That's what it means. Because I don't think you make yourself, There are a lot of things that come into making who you are. So you embrace all of those things. And then you remember that it's a gift to serve, especially in my business. It's a gift to serve. So I never forget that. So being a CEO is knowing that you have that gift and that you can offer that gift to those who come into your space.

Yeah, I love that definition. I love how it right is, at least to me in alignment with your hack and how A lot of times we forget that our gift is given not to hold on to, not to hide, but to give to other people. And I'm a big believer in the parables of the talents. One of my absolute favorite verses, talks about how you get those talents, and those talents are supposed to be given to multiply, you know, God's kingdom and to do those things. And if we lose sight of that, we lose sight of the impact that we can ultimately have on a daily, weekly, yearly basis.

Absolutely. And also if you hold on, you can't be filled any longer. So you have to pour out so you can continue to be filled. And so being a CEO, you grow. Maybe you're adding another service, maybe you're adding another business, maybe you're taking on some partners. But if you're holding on to that, that, you know, that initial gift, and not pouring it out, you can't be filled with anything else.

Yeah, absolutely. We don't sometimes don't realize the blessings that we have when we pour out. We get to pour into other people, into other places, into other events and services and collaborations. It really just makes a huge impact on ourselves, but also on the people in the world that we have.

And I think so many times, I kind of remind myself, anytime you see a child that's learning how to walk, the first thing they'll fall down and they'll get back up and they'll do it again. And you even see like the people around them, they're cheering them on saying, hey, you can do it, but we don't do that same thing to ourselves.
Or we forget to do that for ourselves when we're trying something new or we're starting a new venture or a new business or a new service or whatever, we won't share ourselves on and get back up. So I love that because it reminds us of that process and that journey and we can tap into that because we realized that the way to succeed is sometimes by falling and getting back up and doing it over and over again.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. I wanted to ask you now my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. And we're hoping to have different quote-unquote CEOs on the show. So Lisa, what does being a CEO mean to you?

It means embracing the gift that you've been given to do a job that you've been blessed to get to. That's what it means. Because I don't think you make yourself, There are a lot of things that come into making who you are. So you embrace all of those things. And then you remember that it's a gift to serve, especially in my business. It's a gift to serve. So I never forget that. So being a CEO is knowing that you have that gift and that you can offer that gift to those who come into your space.

Yeah, I love that definition. I love how it right is, at least to me in alignment with your hack and how A lot of times we forget that our gift is given not to hold on to, not to hide, but to give to other people. And I'm a big believer in the parables of the talents. One of my absolute favorite verses, talks about how you get those talents, and those talents are supposed to be given to multiply, you know, God's kingdom and to do those things. And if we lose sight of that, we lose sight of the impact that we can ultimately have on a daily, weekly, yearly basis.

Absolutely. And also if you hold on, you can't be filled any longer. So you have to pour out so you can continue to be filled. And so being a CEO, you grow. Maybe you're adding another service, maybe you're adding another business, maybe you're taking on some partners. But if you're holding on to that, that, you know, that initial gift, and not pouring it out, you can't be filled with anything else.

Yeah, absolutely. We don't sometimes don't realize the blessings that we have when we pour out. We get to pour into other people, into other places, into other events and services and collaborations. It really just makes a huge impact on ourselves, but also on the people in the world that we have.

Yes, there might be some issues that you're dealing with but know that, like I said in the beginning, if you fall, get up, you know, and just keep moving forward and continue to learn and continue to grow. And also that we only have 1 body, take care of it to the best of your ability. Do what you need.
