We’re Chris and Julia Tunstall, a husband-and-wife team who love the service industry and are dedicated to treating all of our customers like they are our family. Inspired by Chris’ decade of experience as a bartender and bar manager, we created A Bar Above as a bar education site in 2013, growing over the years to add online training, a podcast, and a unique line of premium barware designed entirely by us. We’re dedicated to growing a team of people in Carlsbad, California who love craft cocktails and the beverage/service industry as much as we do! Together, we continue to develop and personally test our custom line of bar tools so we can bring the best barware to our customers. In addition, we are looking to expand our mixology course offerings in 2022.
Alexandra Caspero MA, RD, CLT, RYT, is owner of Delish Knowledge and author of Fresh Italian Cooking for the New Generation. Her award-winning blog, Delish Knowledge, focuses on making whole-food, vegetarian eating deliciously simple. She is the co-founder of Plant-Based Juniors, an evidence-based platform that helps parents navigate the world of plant-based prenatal and pediatric nutrition. Additionally, she is the co-author of Joyful Eating, Nourished Life, which helps others discover a happier, healthier relationship with food and their body.
Summer Shine found her calling when she had just six months sober from a life long addiction to drugs and alcohol; a juice bar. Luna Juice Bar in Waco, TX had humble beginnings with low start up capitol and one employee. Shine worked hard to turn her small business into a thriving food truck located at Magnolia Silo's, a hip store front on Austin Ave and over half a million dollars in sale last year. She now employees women in the early stages of recovery. In 2015, she and her husband, Ronnie started a recovery house for women in Waco and now serve between 25-30 women annually. Shine is the mother to her best friend and road dog, 21 year-old, Haigon.
