IAM2463 – Embracing the 63rd Day with Baby Gresh

Special Episode by Gresham Harkless Jr.

A smiling man stands beside a banner for "Blue Star Branches," with podcast details: "Episode 2463, Embracing the 63rd Day with Baby Gresh," and streaming platform logos below.

On Day 63 of the Franchise Broker journey, Gresham Harkless shares a candid update about recent life changes and their impact on his focus and priorities. With the arrival of his new son, he's been adapting to a new routine, which has brought both challenges and clarity.

Gresham highlights how having less time has helped him become more intentional and focused, a concept aligned with the principles of the 12 Week Year, which he’s actively implementing.

Gresham discusses the value of “disruptions,” both internal and external, as opportunities for growth and resilience.

He’s refining his 12-week goals, possibly reducing them from three to two, as one health-related goal may not be realistic given his current sleep schedule.

Furthermore, Gresham expresses gratitude for his supportive family and the progress in his business, maintaining excitement and optimism about what’s to come.

If so, you've come to the right place. Gresh values your time and is ready to share with you the valuable info you're in search of. This is the I AM CEO Podcast.

Gresham Harkless 00:28

Hello, hello, hello. This is Gresh from the I AM CEO Podcast. And this is a special episode of our I AM CEO Podcast.

And this is actually going to be a snippet of a snippet, so to speak. I'm just doing an intro because I've been starting to document my journey into starting what is now called Blue Star Franchise.

We're also going to do a kind of sub site within CB Nation called Franchise CEO. So you'll see some links in the show notes related to that.

But just wanted to give you a little bit more insight, give you a little bit more color in some of the aspects of why I'm actually doing this.

Because one of the things I was doing as I was going through training to start up this new business was realizing and hearing from the founder of FBA, the Franchise Brokers Association, that it'd be really cool to document your journey going through and building this out.

I think it's something that would be super helpful, obviously for people that are looking for and thinking about starting franchises.

But frankly, if you're starting anything, any type of business, I think it's really cool to kind of just even see the journey and how it's been going from there.

So I'm going to share a few of those snippets from the, from the first couple of videos that have been created.

But definitely, of course, subscribe to our YouTube, check out a lot more where I figure out exactly where we're going to post this.

So I'll have that information that's available to you. But regardless, if you're a builder, continue to keep building, continue to do your thing.

The world definitely needs exactly what you're trying to build and needs you to be your unique self.

So make sure to run your own race, because nobody can run your race like you. This is Gresh signing out. I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.

It's day 63 of the Franchise Broker journey, but we're obviously very excited.

I did not record the last two days, I believe. I didn't record on Friday or I didn't record on Saturday either.

I wanted to just do this recording because it just makes you kind of lock in.

What I have always been kind of knowing and realizing is that there's a lot of power in restrictions and not having as much time, not having all the time in the world, not being able to focus on all the things.

That's the power of the 12 week year, which I'm also getting those things in place.

But also I think the power of everything that we're doing now is being able to kind of sit down and say, OK, let's focus on the things that we can focus on the time that we have allotted.

[restrict paid=”true”]

And it forces you to be a lot more intentional with the things that you're doing.

So I'm excited around that because I think that it provides a lot of great opportunity for us to continue to kind of grow and to kind of be better.

But I think more than anything else, it really allows us a tremendous opportunity to start to refine things that are going to be the most important.

I think anytime you have any type of changes in your life, I call them disruptions.

Disruptions are not always bad. They're often, I think, They can be really good if you're on the good side of them, I should say.

So that's why I'm always like using that word disruption, because I think you always want to change and you want to create disruptions in your own life.

Because if you have those disruption in your own life, when the actual disruptions happen that are external, you're not as hurt by them.

So with additional son now, baby Gresh now, in the fold and in the routine, and we're getting everything in place for him, it's just a matter of staying really focused on what the goals are.

I'm going through my 12-week goals. And one of the things that I was really unsure about is how I wanted to break down my 12-week goals.

But I think you want to give yourself the opportunity to be as successful as you can be.

And I realized one of my goals, which is honestly my blood sugar, which I talked about a little bit, not sure if I'm going to be able to do because I'm not going to be getting as much sleep.

Because I'm not getting as much sleep, I don't know if it's even fair to me to have that goal.

And that's something that's just kind of evolving over time.

It doesn't necessarily mean that I can't continue to kind of work on it.

It just means that, hey, maybe something else is going to fulfill that goal or stick it to that spot.

I'm really thinking that maybe I'll just, like, not have the three goals just have two goals.

But still continue to do what i can with the blood sugar continue to kind of check it but maybe it just won't be a goal until next quarter when we get a little bit more in the flow.

And he's a little bit older and sleeping a little bit better but we'll see how those things go but I'm excited about everything.

Again, there's shifts and changes and things that you have to look at.

And you have to honestly be aware of the season that you're in, because sometimes you're not going to be able to do the things that you hope to do.

And because of that, I'm going to make some adjustments, I think, on my 12-week goals sometime this week.

Probably try to listen to the 12-week year book again and really great I mean 12 week year too.

So I'm looking forward to this looking forward to continue to grow happy to welcome another son into the fold and looking after wife looking after the kid and just making sure everybody is in a good place.

But we have a really great support system with my my parents and family being close and just outpouring of love.

So my heart is definitely overflowing and I think that I'm really excited about everything that's going to happen with this business as well too.

So this is Gresh signing out. I know I'll speak to you before this, but I just wanted to make sure that I gave you a little bit more of an update since I haven't given an update in the past.
