[00:01:23.00] – Taylor Simpson
Yes. Let's do it.
[00:01:23.90] – Gresham Harkless
Let's do it. So to kick everything off, I wanted to kind of rewind the clock a little bit and hear a little bit about what I call your CEO story. Well, let you get started with the business, your podcast, and all the awesome things you're working on.
[00:01:33.70] – Taylor Simpson
Yes. So kinda just where how it all started? Is that what you're Yeah.
[00:01:37.20] – Gresham Harkless
Absolutely.
[00:01:37.59] – Taylor Simpson
Yeah. I joke that it was, like, fit I feel like it was, like, ten lifetimes ago. Mhmm. But, yeah, it was about actually this as we're recording this, but this time, six years ago, I quit what was my full-time, quote, dream job. I actually worked on Capitol Hill in the US Capitol Hill for a few years, and then I worked for, the United Nations World Food Program. Again, thinking that was my path and got the undergrads, the masters, all the things. Right? Had had all the things going that I was supposed to do. And I found myself living this on the outside. You've got it all life. I felt so out of alignment, and I was not enjoying anything that I was doing.
And so I began to, start to just kind of do things that felt good to me, that was fun to me, and that was one of them joining a gym. So I joined a gym, just to kinda do something, move my body, move the energy, because at that time, I was also going through a lot of, inner term turmoil. Again, why does it feel like it was fifteen lifetimes ago? I was in a toxic marriage. I was dealing with a lot of childhood issues that were turning into anger management issues, quite literally and food addiction.
So all looked on the outside and joined the gym. And so as I joined the gym to move my body, and shift the energy, it felt good to me. I created an Instagram account to share my journey. Created an Instagram account, shared my my selfies, you know, just and my cute little outfits because I love fashion. It's always been my thing. And before I know it, my Instagram starts to grow. And, and, you know, I've got my, like, my neon sports bra and my lime green shorts, and I cheated the headband and all that. And as I'm working out more, my little at the at that time, you know, hundred-pound frame body that's never lifted a weight in her days because she also I did cheerleading and lacrosse growing up.
[00:03:38.80] – Gresham Harkless
Mhmm.
[00:03:39.19] – Taylor Simpson
I started to put on some lean lean muscle. And so people started asking, okay. I love your abs, but also, like, your shoulders are looking good. Your glutes are looking good. How are you doing this? And so I just start sharing my workouts, sharing what I'm doing. And before I know it, I've got thousands of followers, and it's becoming my just passion. I had no idea it was gonna turn into what it ended up turning into. But after about nine months of sharing value, I create a blog to share even more value to support my community. And before I know it, people are like, hey.
Can I pay you to help me? And I'm like, yeah? Like, sure. And so I began to create coaching programs, got my NASM certification, doing, and, eventually, it turned into a full-fledged, doubling in my current, at the time, income, online fitness, and health coaching business off of my dining room table and my little, you know, seven hundred square foot apartment in Washington, DC. And so I started doing that and eventually realized, oh, this is like a thing. I love this. This brings me joy, and I'm I'm making money and helping people. So I quit my, you know, dream job, that I had spent a lot of years building my life around, but it just didn't fulfill me.
We went all into the fitness business and started sharing mindset tips in there because I was in the background working on transferring my mind, getting into neuroscience, getting into psychology, and why I think the way I do and all of this. It's just kind of sprinkling this in amongst my fitness and nutrition stuff. Right? Kinda a little bit of mind voodoo going on. And before I knew it, people started following me for mindset tips, and they were like, hey. I want a healthy body, but I also wanna talk to myself nicely. Nicely. So I created a program called the mind and body program.
And eventually, it became I became more, well known for my mindset, and so I just kinda slid away from the fitness and then completely shut it off and went full time into then teaching, completely our mindset and energy and frequency over the past now, three three-ish years, and that's where I'm at now. It's it's it's true because I was doing the work behind the scenes. And the changes that it was making in my life, I made it my responsibility to get out everything that I knew, and that worked for me to help my community.
[00:05:56.60] – Gresham Harkless
Nice. I absolutely love that. You know, sorry, you know, you went through that, difficult time, but a lot of times when I feel like, you go through those difficult times and you're able to, of course, you know, help yourself and be able to kinda, I guess, for lack of a better term here. So you are able to kinda, as you said, just by sharing your story, sharing your journey, be able to attract so many people that are potentially going through so many different things and not sure exactly where to turn and have created all these, kind of ways to to to share and to serve that community.
[00:06:26.19] – Taylor Simpson
Yeah. Yep. It's all worth it. I'd do it again.
[00:06:28.89] – Gresham Harkless
There you go. That's a sign of it being an awesome experience. So, I know you touched on it a little bit, but I wanted to drill a little bit deeper here, how you work with the clients, how you serve the clients, and a little bit more about your podcast as well.
[00:06:40.10] – Taylor Simpson
Yeah. Absolutely. So I serve my my clients through the podcast and through, I do I I don't like to call them retreats. I call them experiences. I do in-person seven-day DNA upgrade plus play experiences because I believe my methodology is indeed infusing science, mysticism, and spirituality, but also with a very childlike, joyful, curious, playful energy. I teach my clients that if you want the money, if you want the abundance, the joy, the happiness, the freedom, well, you have to get your body and your frequency into a higher state to attract that because it's not woo woo. Right? It's not woo-woo. Right? It's science. It's it's frequency. Our bodies admit different frequencies. Shame is one of the lowest ones. Right?
And enlightenment, joy, and bliss is one of the highest. And so do children do most children, right, that are playing outside, are they sitting in shame? No. They're playful. They're playing. They're lighthearted. They're in their heart. They're in their their expansiveness. So I teach my clients to really infuse that ease, that joy, that curiosity, knowing that not only does it feel good, but it's going to actually make you a magnet for everything you desire. So that's what I teach in the offerings that I have, is my I do that though I have a monthly membership, called the abundant life experience,
which is a great place to kinda start learning how to expand and infuse that mysticism and spirituality and science when it comes to learning about what needs to be unpacked inside trauma, right, limiting beliefs, scarcity viewpoints, all of that. I also have a program called Ascend, which is where I help women really get the next level of balancing out their chakras and their body, their energy points so they really can become a vessels to effortlessly receive what they want. So the kinda of different modalities that I have, hit home for that woman who's ready to fully tap into the freedom and abundance that they desire.
[00:08:36.79] – Gresham Harkless
Yeah. That makes so much sense. I absolutely love that. And then the different modalities. But I think, also too, you touched on that foundation, that foundational kind of childlike, I guess, getting back to that experience. Because I think so many times as we grow and go through life, we can kinda get away from that. And it's so funny. I just read a quote yesterday because I do, like, this gratitude journal, and it was, that we are never more alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything than when we are playing. And it went right in line with I was like, I just heard this. I feel like not too long ago. So, like, getting back to play, getting back to that childlike kinda mentality is such a big thing, and we get so far away from it throughout life. But that's really where a lot of the phenomenal, awesome, creative things come up.
[00:09:20.50] – Taylor Simpson
Yes. Like, everything. And this is something that I've had. So I'm no expert on this when it comes to teaching this for my entire life. This is something that I've worked hard at getting because, like like you said, we lose that. And, like, when I apply something in my life and it works, I scream it from the top of the mountains. And so I just share that because I know when we sometimes hear someone who teaches something, well, they don't know.
They teach it because they're really good at it. And I'm like, oh, no. It takes it took me a lot of consistency, and dedication and reminding myself of having messy days and failing, right, quote, failing to get to where I'm at today. But, yes, when we are in that, that quote is like you'll have to DM me that quote because it was beautiful. Hey. Yeah. Everything right. You never you're never playing and thinking, oh, this is so bad. This is so not fun. Like, it's always fun, which means that the world sees you and feels the love that you have, and it just wants to pour everything into you. It's just how it works.
[00:10:15.10] – Gresham Harkless
Absolutely. And let me make sure I say it's Charles E Schafer who said that as well too. Yeah, But I think, you're right. And I think so many times there's a misconception about, you know, whether it be, you know, this or it's the anybody that's quote, unquote expert in what it is that they do that they were just kinda born that way, and it just happened. Granted, you know, we all have our gifts and things that we can do better, but I think that we sometimes gloss over the work and the time. And, like, you talked about what it took to get to that point and still continue to kind of work to get to that point. Because I think once we understand that, we too can also do some of those things and a lot of those things and implement them in our lives.
[00:10:51.79] – Taylor Simpson
Yes. One hundred percent.
[00:10:53.60] – Gresham Harkless
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So I wanted to ask you now for what I call your secret sauce. This could be for your business, your podcast, or yourself personally, but what do you feel kinda sets you apart and makes you unique?
[00:11:02.00] – Taylor Simpson
Oh my goodness. What a beautiful question. And the answer came right into my head, which is obviously the right answer. I only do what feels good, period. Like, I've created the life that I've created based solely on how it feels in my body. If I'm starting a program or I'm teaching someone a certain thing and I can feel that it's off, I'll end it right there, and I'll pivot immediately. And that and in my life, applies to everything. And, also, when I teach, right, I teach my clients how to do that as well, how to make decisions based on if it feels good or doesn't feel good. And a lot of, you know you know, why that's kind of my unique unicorn thing because so many people fall prey, and I used to as well, to that it has to be this way. It has to look this way. There has to be strategy, right, very because everyone else is doing it. And for me, you know, people that watch me on my I share my whole life on my Instagram stories. I quite literally do the craziest random things because it feels good to me, and it always creates massive success and joy in my life because of it every time.
[00:12:11.89] – Gresham Harkless
Truly appreciate that. And I wanted to switch gears a little bit, and I wanted to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an app, a book, or a habit that you have, but what's something that makes you more effective and efficient?
[00:12:22.60] – Taylor Simpson
My morning ritual. One hundred percent. I firmly believe when we have a morning ritual in place, it's consistent that we are dedicated to that's habitual, where we fill our cups up before touching our phones, we can be of such higher service and provide deeper, more concise to our clients, our communities, from an overflowing cup. So hands down, morning ritual.
[00:12:48.20] – Gresham Harkless
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So now I wanted to ask you for what I call a CEO nugget. So this could be a word of wisdom or a piece of advice. It might be something you would tell a client, or if you have to do a time machine, you might tell your younger business self.
[00:12:58.89] – Taylor Simpson
I would tell her the more you fearlessly own what you believe to be true and share that and serve that unfiltered with all the love, you are going to be perfectly fine.
[00:13:14.89] – Gresham Harkless
Absolutely love that. And so now I wanted to ask you my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO, and we're hoping to have different, quote, unquote, CEOs on the show. So, Taylor, what does being a CEO mean to you?
[00:13:25.29] – Taylor Simpson
Oh, a CEO being a CEO to me means being so in love with what you've created and so in love with sharing that creation with your clients.
[00:13:44.89] – Gresham Harkless
Awesome. I absolutely love that. And I think, I forgot what the quote is, but love is the strongest of all. It's one of the things that we always, should try for and try to see in every aspect of our lives. And as you said, when we love what it is that we do, love what we create, love the people that we serve, it creates this incredible next level that it's again, you're going to heights that sometimes we didn't even envision, but because you're looking for that love and because you're starting to produce it in everything you're doing and the people that you're interacting with.
[00:14:10.39] – Taylor Simpson
Mhmm. Yes.
[00:14:11.20] – Gresham Harkless
Amen. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Well, Taylor, truly appreciate all the awesome things you're doing. I appreciate your time even more. What I wanted to do is pass you the mic, so to speak, just to see if there's anything additional you can let our readers and listeners know, and, of course, how they can find you. Subscribe to the podcast and find out about all the awesome things you're working on.
[00:14:28.10] – Taylor Simpson
I love it. Well, first off, thank you so much for having me. It's such an honor, and you've got such a great energy. This has been just beautiful. And, yeah, for the listeners, it's you know, don't worry about what other people are doing or what they think about you. Just do you and create the life that feels good to you. Because in the end, I know it sounds cheesy, but, like, this is the life you're living. So live it to the fullest that feels good to you, and everything you want will come to you. Like
, I could pretty much guarantee you that. So, yeah, that's what's truly what kind of just feeling needs to come through. And how to find me, I am on Instagram at I am Taylor Simpson, like the show Simpson. Mhmm. And, yeah, you could just come shoot me a DM. Come say hi. And then I've got a really cool quiz that I actually came out with a few weeks ago that's been so fun that I would love to share with you all. It's finding out I love taking quizzes. So, of course, I was like, I have to create a quiz because this is they're so fun. Right? Yes.
I love to, like, learn more about myself and kinda put myself in a box as we all do really in the end. Mhmm. We love to have definitions of who we are Right. Whether we admit it or not. And so the quiz is helping you find out what, frequency you are admitting around receiving money. So what's your money frequency? So you can get that over at Taylor simpson dot com slash quiz, and it will also let you know, which of your chakras are blocked and help you to remove those. It's like all value, all the value. So I would love it if everyone could go take that and figure out what their block is.
[00:15:59.79] – Gresham Harkless
Absolutely. No. I definitely appreciate that, and we will have the links and information in the show notes so everybody can get all of the value. So I appreciate you for creating that and, of course, sharing that here as well. But I appreciate, you know, all the reminders that you gave us of how we can be our best selves live our lives unapologetically fearlessly, and create love and passion in everything that we do. So I appreciate you, and I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.

So, like, getting back to play, getting back to that childlike kinda mentality is such a big thing, and we get so far away from it throughout life. But that's really where a lot of the phenomenal, awesome, creative things that come up that can come out of us come from.
[00:09:20.50] - Taylor Simpson
It's it's just how it works.
[00:10:15.10] - Gresham Harkless
[00:10:51.79] - Taylor Simpson
Yes. One hundred percent.
[00:10:53.60] - Gresham Harkless
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So I wanted to ask you now for what I call your secret sauce. This could be for your business, your podcast, or yourself personally, but what do you feel kinda sets you apart and makes you unique?
[00:11:02.00] - Taylor Simpson
[00:12:11.89] - Gresham Harkless
Truly appreciate that. And I wanted to switch gears a little bit, and I wanted to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an app, a book, or a habit that you have, but what's something that makes you more effective and efficient?
[00:12:22.60] - Taylor Simpson
My morning ritual. One hundred percent. I firmly believe when we have a morning ritual in place, it's consistent that we are dedicated to that's habitual, where we fill our cups up before touching our phones, we can be of such higher service and provide deeper, more concise to our clients, our communities, from an overflowing cup. So hands down, morning ritual.
[00:12:48.20] - Gresham Harkless
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. So now I wanted to ask you for what I call a CEO nugget. So this could be a word of wisdom or a piece of advice. It might be something you would tell a client, or if you have to do a time machine, you might tell your younger business self.
[00:12:58.89] - Taylor Simpson
I would tell her the more you fearlessly own what you believe to be true and share that and serve that unfiltered with all the love, you are going to be perfectly fine.
[00:13:14.89] - Gresham Harkless
Absolutely love that. And so now I wanted to ask you my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO, and we're hoping to have different, quote, unquote, CEOs on the show. So, Taylor, what does being a CEO mean to you?
[00:13:25.29] - Taylor Simpson
Oh, a CEO being a CEO to me means being so in love with what you've created and so in love with sharing that creation with your clients.
[00:13:44.89] - Gresham Harkless
[00:14:10.39] - Taylor Simpson
Mhmm. Yes.
[00:14:11.20] - Gresham Harkless
Amen. Awesome. Awesome.
[00:14:28.10] - Taylor Simpson
[00:15:59.79] - Gresham Harkless
Absolutely. No. I definitely appreciate that, and we will have the links and information in the show notes so everybody can get all of the value. So I definitely appreciate you for creating that and, of course, sharing that here as well. But I appreciate, you know, all the reminders that you gave us of how we can be our best selves and live our lives unapologetically fearlessly, and create love and passion in everything that we do. So I appreciate you, and I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.
