IAM2820 – The Importance of Taking Action and Not Waiting for the Perfect Moment

The Myth of the Solo Superhero

Many builders operate under the “superhero mentality,” believing they must wear a cape and solve every problem in isolation. This pressure to be “Superwoman” or “Superman” often stems from a structure built entirely around problem-solving rather than human connection. In this episode, we challenge the idea that you must pull yourself up solely by your own bootstraps, highlighting that even the most successful leaders rely on a silent foundation of community and support.

Support Systems as a Performance Multiplier

Support systems are not a luxury; they are an essential requirement for reaching your desired altitude. Your business and your life are inextricably connected, and the environment you cultivate directly impacts your ability to perform.

Data shows that people who feel supported do not just feel better—they perform better, recover from setbacks faster, and move forward with significantly more confidence.

Engineering a Culture of Support

The core takeaway for any CEO is to evaluate the “Human Pillar” within their own organization. To reach the heights your team is capable of, you must transition from applying more pressure to providing more support. As the saying goes, “to go fast, go alone; to go far, go together”. Ask yourself this critical question: “Where in my life or business do I need more support instead of more pressure?”. That simple shift in awareness can change your entire trajectory.

Here's something I feel like we don't always understand and learn as we go through the journey of life, the journey of business, and figuring out what to do. It's actually action that creates that clarity. We think that we need the clarity before we take the action. But in actuality, you take an action that gives you the clarity, take another action gives you more clarity, and you keep repeating that cycle.

If you're building something meaningful, you're in the right place. This is the I Am CEO Podcast. I'm gresh, and for over a decade I've had the honor and the privilege of Learning directly from CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners just like you on how to build. After recording more than 1600 episodes, one thing has become clear. Success isn't about following someone else's blueprint. And as I like to say on the show, if you run your own race, you can't lose. Even when we feel the journey should be a straight and linear path, what I've come to find out is success is a lot more like a plate of spaghetti. So in this special segment and episode, I'm starting to curate and share some CEO hacks and CEO nuggets that I've been dying to share. Drawn from thousands of episodes with phenomenal guests that have provided awesome value on the show, but also my 10 years of business experience as well too. These lessons are designed to strengthen the foundational principles that every business is built on and guided by a simple equation that we always go back to with our content. Visibility plus resources times connections equals success. This is practical wisdom you can apply almost immediately, so be sure to check out the show notes for more resources and next steps on how to level up. And of course, enjoy this special episode of the I Am CEO Podcast.

Many builders, and trust me, I'm one of those, wait for the right moment, the perfect moment, the right temperature, the perfect way to way that the wind blows. We're always waiting for that perfect time, right? Think about it. We need more clarity, more confidence, more certainty before we take that step. But here's the reality. That moment rarely, if ever, comes. There is no perfect time to start anything. In episode number 37, I spoke with Jeet, who's a serial entrepreneur TEDx speaker who helps people start their journey. Here's something I feel like we don't always understand and learn as we go through the journey of life, the journey of business and figuring out what to do. It's actually action that creates that clarity. We think that we need the clarity before we take the action. But in Actuality, you take an action that gives you the clarity, take another action, gives you more clarity, and you keep repeating that cycle. We often think it's the other way around. Let me get full clarity, and then I'll take the next step. For builders that are working on their business every single day, this is a huge and critical shift. Thinking the inner game is such a huge thing, but you don't actually think your way into momentum. You move your way into it. The real takeaway is that starting imperfectly is better than waiting indefinitely. There's a quote, and I'm the king of butchering quotes, where a lot of times we want to see the whole staircase before we take the first step. But in reality, when we take the first step, it reveals the next step, or maybe the step after that, but we don't see the whole staircase. We don't see exactly all the places that we want to go, but we're often guaranteed that if we take zero steps, we won't see any part of the staircase. Action creates feedback, and feedback creates progress. When you take a step and you put something out there, you get feedback to realize, is this the right thing or is this not the right thing? Do I need to pivot? Do I need to change? But that doesn't happen until you actually put your product, your service, your mvp, whatever it is that you're thinking about out there. This connects naturally to the entrepreneurship pillar, actually understanding business and how to work a business. It's completely backward from a lot of things that we've learned through times. And it means that you take action despite any type of uncertainty. Here's something worth considering. What am I waiting to feel ready for that I can actually start today? That's often the next step that you should take. During this episode, we had a phenomenal conversation exploring mindset action and how starting actually creates opportunity. So you want to make sure that you pay attention to this episode and especially the mentality outside of this episode as well, too, because a lot of serial entrepreneurs, once you start something, you want to start something again, and you want to start something again. And often we can get lost in the sauce or in our heads and not realize that we need to take action so that that can propel us into the clarity that we need, not the other way around.
