02:00 – Tiffany Parker
I am.
02:01 – Gresham Harkless
Awesome, Well, let's do it then. So to kind of kick everything off, I wanted to rewind the clock a little bit and hear a little bit more about what I call your CO story. We'll let you get started with all the awesome work you're doing.
02:11 – Tiffany Parker
Well, thank you. Thank you. Well, Gresh, it started about 25 years ago. So I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, hypothyroidism, and after being on medication for like 20 plus years, I noticed that I was still suffering from symptoms of my condition. And as I looked at other family members and friends who were also on medication they were suffering as well. And so at this point I felt very defeated and I began praying and telling God that you know it has to be a better way of living. I know this is not all that life has to offer. And so I started, you know, hearing the scripture by his stripes, you are already healed.
And that's ED past tense, right? And so the scripture woke something up in me because healed is in that past tense form. So I told myself, you're healing and everyone else's healing is really already complete. It's already here for us. You just have to walk in it. And so I have been interested in medicine. When I was in college, I even was a pre-med student, that's how I started. And then I quickly switched over to psychology. So then I started studying holistic medicine, natural ways to heal my condition, which by the grace of God, I was able to come off some, you know, my medication for it.
And so with that accomplishment, I went a step further and became a certified health consultant, and spiritual life coach and started my healthy coaching business about 5 years ago, where I am, like you said, a holistic health guide, an emotional root coach. My passion is being able to guide someone to their heel and spread information about the benefits of holistic healthcare, which I'm able to do on my weekly podcast, The Healthy Entrepreneur. And so I've been hosting The Healthy Entrepreneur under the Every Dot Black Entrepreneur Podcast Network for about 3 years now. And this opportunity just manifested by networking and making a divine connection. The person saw something in me that I didn't even see in myself.
And so I didn't know anything about having a radio show, writing proposals, or being a podcaster, but I quickly learned from Google and I have been doing it now, like I said, for 3 years. And I am excited to say I just won 1 of the 2021 winners of the Everyday Black Podcaster of the Year award and so you know that's my quick peek into my story and where I'm at now.
04:50 – Gresham Harkless
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Well, definitely congratulations on the award and the accolade, that's super exciting. And I think it's always great to kind of step into, you know, who we are, what it is that we do sometimes when we don't even see it in ourselves and to get those accolades and that recognition. So definitely appreciate you for sharing that and of course, being able to do that.
05:07 – Tiffany Parker
Yes, yes, thank you.
05:09 – Gresham Harkless
Absolutely and I love how that verse you know kind of created it sounds like a forward momentum and energy towards, you know, everything that you're doing. Cause I think so many times we look externally for things that we need, whether from a health standpoint or even just a personal standpoint that we often don't kind of look inward and kind of do that work. And so I love how that has manifested itself in all the work that you do to kind of help support people because I think we're so easily, are so quick to say in less, I guess we're not enough or there's something that we need to have in order to get to where we need to be. But I love that you guide people along that journey and help them to sometimes realize that everything we have may be inside.
05:53 – Tiffany Parker
Yes, we already possess it. Yes, absolutely. Yes. And it's a beautiful thing. Everybody's path that you cross is there for a reason. Some people are there to teach you something, you know, and some people are 8 guides. And you know, are there to help pull out what's inside of you, you know, so that you can, you know, live a better quality of life.
06:16 – Gresham Harkless
Yeah, absolutely. And so I know you touched a little bit upon, you know, how that manifests itself and how you work with your clients. Could you take us through a little bit more on what that looks like? And, of course, is anything additional on how you serve the clients you work with?
06:28 – Tiffany Parker
Sure. So my area of focus is metaphysical healing. And so what that is is believing that most of our illnesses are connected to negative emotions such as anger and fear. And so when it comes to holistic coaching, my passion is helping people discover what that particular emotional root cause is that's connected to their illness. So just a quick example, if I may be dealing with somebody who has diabetes, 1 of the emotional root connections to that is feeling that life has no more sweetness. And so then it's taking me, it's me helping them to kind of go back when they were diagnosed with that and go back in time to see exactly what happened in your life that made you feel like life had no more sweetness.
And so sometimes it has to deal with the death. And so that's kind of the work that I do with the client on the health, you know, coach perspective so that I can help them to really go back and kind of deal with that emotional wound so that they can, you know, begin their healing. And then, you know, as their health guide, I research, I connect my clients to alternative healing approaches that may be, you know, the best for them so that they can create a healthy lifestyle and reach optimal wellness. And then as for my podcast, my show is geared towards helping entrepreneurs create and maintain healthy lifestyles.
1 of my greatest joys is sharing information on the show regarding holistic and alternative approaches to healing so that my listeners have options to choose from when it comes to their healing plans and creating a healthy entrepreneur lifestyle. And so I also like to bring awareness to some of them, I would say unhealthy habits we have as entrepreneurs like lack of sleep or skipping meals. You know, I like to enlighten them on the damage that this is causing to their bodies in the long haul. And so that's kind of in a nutshell of how I help my clients, how I help those that are listeners on the podcast.
08:50 – Gresham Harkless
Yeah, absolutely. Well, I love that you do that work and you have so many ways that you have to connect with people. And so would you consider that to be what I like to call your secret sauce thing you feel kind of sets you or your organization, your podcast apart and makes it unique? Is it that ability to, I guess, create the space and the opportunity and the knowledge for people to know about this and of course treat it?
09:11 – Tiffany Parker
I would say so. You know, I'm a spiritual person. And so this entrepreneur journey for me has been a faith walk, right? I'm a firm believer in committing my plans to the Lord. And so that when you commit, you know, do that, you are attached to your life purpose And that, you know, everything begins to make sense at that moment. And it's not always about money or success, but you know, what will your legacy look like? You know, what have you done or are doing to make this world a better place? And so for me, I feel as though my purpose is helping people and getting to the emotional root cause of their health issues.
Because without getting to the root, healing can't take place. And so in my networking so far with other coaches, I have not met anyone who has, I haven't met anyone who specialized in emotional healing, I should say. So first before going into such things as nutritionals and exercise. So many of the health coaches that I've met thus far, speak a lot about nutrition. They speak a lot about, you know, the things to eat or the herbs to take and things like that. But I really haven't met anyone who is passionate about starting at that emotional wound first and then going forward.
And so that's why, you know, I call myself an emotional root coach because that's what the Lord dropped in my Spirit to start calling myself. And I always look to the Holy Spirit to guide me as I work with my clients, you know, as I decide what topics to discuss on my podcast. So at the end of the day, I would say, you know, God is my secret sauce. And, then let me quickly add to it, you know, for the podcast, I think my secret sauce there has just been open-minded and embracing all ideas of healing, even if you know, I'm not in 100% agreement with it, right? It's about giving that holistic community a platform to speak their piece. And so I think those things are what sets me apart.
11:25 – Gresham Harkless
I appreciate you for holding that space. And I wanted to switch gears a little bit. And I want to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an Apple book or a habit that you have, but what's something that makes you more effective and efficient?
11:39 – Tiffany Parker
I am very humble and grateful that, you know, I get to wake up every day and really get to do something that I love to do, and that's to help and serve God's people. And for me, I'm more efficient and I have the best days when I practice mindfulness. And that's making sure that I'm present.
12:02 – Gresham Harkless
I want to ask you now for what I call a CEO nugget, which could be a word of wisdom or a piece of advice. It might be something you would tell a client or if you have a time machine, you might tell your younger business self.
12:12 – Tiffany Parker
I would start by going back to tell my younger self. Seeing that I was a little girl who lacked self-confidence, I would tell her to believe in yourself and always listen to your heart because what you believe creates your reality. I would tell her not to be afraid to fail at something for, you know, it's not only a lesson learned, but it's an opportunity to try again but with more wisdom.
12:40 – Gresham Harkless
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. Well, Tiffany truly appreciates that. And now I wanted to ask you my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. And we're hoping to have different quote-unquote CEOs on the show. So Tiffany, what does being a CEO mean to you?
12:53 – Tiffany Parker
I think it's having a mindset of servitude, you know, like our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And so it's allowing your business or your podcast to operate from a space of love. And I believe when you love what you do and allow love to guide you and your decisions, everything else just falls into place. And it's about being authentic, you know, and seeing success through a spiritual lens.
13:20 – Gresham Harkless
Tiffany truly appreciates that definition. And I appreciate your time even more. What I wanted to do was just pass you the mic, so to speak, just to see if there's anything additional you can let our readers and listeners know. And of course, how best they can get ahold of you, subscribe to the podcast, and find out about all the awesome things you're working on.
13:35 – Tiffany Parker
Oh, thank you. Well, Gresh, I would just like to add that as we strive to take our business to the next level, you know, let's enjoy the ride to the top. We are so busy trying to get to that top that we don't enjoy the climb and we don't take time to pat ourselves on the back for all the little wins it took to get us there. I want us to be more loving and gentle and patient and kind and forgiving to ourselves, you know, and also show ourselves some mercy and some grace and some compassion, because, you know, being an entrepreneur can be lonely at times, it can be rough at times.
And so the gentlest voice we need to hear is really our own voice. And as I always tell my listeners, you know, every week, remember to always protect your biggest asset and that's your well-being. That Optimum health is your birthright. And so don't let anybody tell you anything different. And then people can listen to my podcast every Monday at 7 p.m. On Patreon. And it's under the Every Dot Black Entrepreneur Podcast Network. And then I can be reached by Tiffany at every. black or you can reach me on my Facebook page. I have, it's called Holy Living Health Coaching and that's W-H-O-L-E-Y Living Health Coaching. I like to let people know I spell it a little differently.
And then you can visit my website, which is www.holyliver.com. I'm also on Instagram under the Healthy Entrepreneur Radio Show. And then you can also call me at 866-777-8595. That's 866-777-8595. And my extension is 502.
15:34 – Gresham Harkless
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. Well, thank you so much again, Tiffany. We will definitely have the links and information in the show notes as well so that everybody can click through and hear the podcast, reach out to you, and connect with you about all the awesome things that you're doing. And I truly appreciate you for reminding us of all the things that we often forget on the daily quote-unquote grind and going from 1 thing to another that we have to make sure that we protect to some degree you know our well-being and make sure that we are able to fill up our cups so that we're able to give more and make even more of an impact, especially as business owners and entrepreneurs who give of ourselves so much. So thank you so much for doing that, for reminding us of that, and for having so many ways that you do that as well. And I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.
