The Danger of Empty Attention

Many builders mistakenly believe that visibility is the ultimate goal, equating more content and followers with a successful business. However, attention alone does not build a sustainable company; there are countless influencers with high engagement who struggle to translate those vanity metrics into actual business results. Without a foundational strategy, being seen by a large crowd often means very little if you aren't being understood by the right people.

The Multiplier Effect of Positioning

Visibility acts as an amplifier—it multiplies whatever message you are already putting out into the world. If your message is unclear, increasing your visibility only serves to amplify and multiply confusion among your audience. True growth happens when visibility is paired with precise positioning: a clear message, a defined audience, and a specific problem being solved.

When your message is distinct and clear, visibility stops being a distraction and starts multiplying your opportunities.

Engineering Your Visibility Strategy

The core takeaway for any entrepreneur is that success is determined by the intersection of visibility strategy, positioning, and how effectively you attract the right audience. Before you seek to amplify your presence, you must do the internal work to ensure your “Visibility Marketing Pillar” is grounded in clarity. Ask yourself this critical question: “If someone finds me today, would they immediately understand who I help and how?”. Shifting from general visibility to strategic positioning is what changes everything.

Visibility is paired with positioning. Clear message, clear audience. Your problem is being solved. Think about that. Here's a real takeaway. Visibility amplifies whenever whatever message that you already have. But if the message is unclear, visibility multiplies that that confusion. It amplifies that you know, if you're not clear on the thing that you're doing in order to serve, not going to be clear to everyone else. But if the message is clear, visibility can actually multiply that opportunity.

If you're building something meaningful, you're in the right place. This is the I Am CEO Podcast. I'm gresh, and for over a decade I've had the honor and the privilege of Learning directly from CEOs, entrepreneurs and business owners just like you on how to build. After recording more than 1600 episodes, one thing has become clear. Success isn't about following someone else's blueprint. And as I like to say on the show, if you run your own race, you can't lose, even when you feel the journey should be a straight and linear path. When I've come to find out is success is a lot more like a plate of spaghetti. So in this special segment and episode, I'm starting to curate and share some CEO hacks and CEO nuggets that I've been dying to share. Drawn from thousands of episodes with phenomenal guests that have provided awesome value on the show, but also my 10 years of business experience as well too. These lessons are designed to strengthen the foundational principles that every business is built on and guided by a simple equation that we always go back to with our content. Visibility plus resources times connections equals success. This is practical wisdom you can apply almost immediately, so be sure to check out the show notes for more resources and next steps on how to level up. Most builders think visibility is the goal. More content, more followers, more attention. But attention alone doesn't actually build a business. Think about it. There's lots and lots and lots and lots of influencers. People that are micro influencers. People that have, you know, 10,000 followers or 10,000 likes, whatever it might be, and however you define that. But what we have to understand is that that is not necessarily building the business. It's a lot of times different from building a business. In episode number 31, I spoke with Niselle Lewis, and she's a visibility expert who helps people that are established entrepreneurs expand their reach. What really stood out was how visibility without clarity can actually create more confusion than you actually wanted to create. And have you can be seen by lots and lots of people and still not be understood by the right one. For builders that are working in their business every single day, this shows up when content is consistent but results are inconsistent. Think about it. You're posting, you're showing up, but the right people aren't actually engaging. Here's when that real shift happens. Visibility is paired with positioning. Clear message, clear audience, clear problem is being solved. Think about that. Here's a real takeaway. Visibility amplifies whenever, whatever message that you already have. But if the message is unclear, visibility multiplies that confusion. It amplifies that you know, if you're not clear on the thing that you're doing in order to serve, it's not going to be clear to everyone else. But if the message is clear, visibility can actually multiply that opportunity. Where does this show up? Obviously the visibility marketing pillar being known for something very, very specific. Here's a question we're sitting with and something for you to consider. If someone finds me today, would they immediately understand who I help and how that clarity can change absolutely everything? I'm a big believer in visibility. I say visibility plus resources times connections equals success. But I really loved how we went even further in that visibility during this conversation with Michelle. It's not just visibility for the sake of having it, it's visibility for of the sake. Strategy, positioning and how to attract the right audience. Those play such a huge part in determining your success. But you have to make sure you do the work first before you start to amplify your presence.
