IAM2491 – To Sign or Not? Uncovering the Cause
Special Episode by Gresham Harkless Jr.

Gresham Harkless reflects on day 164 of his journey as a franchise broker, centering his thoughts around a recent presentation on a sales mastery program. While the program initially caught his interest, he’s uncertain whether the $3,000 cost would effectively tackle his main challenge—consistently generating high-quality leads.
Gresham recognizes a pattern of time constraints interfering with his goals and feels torn between needing more advanced sales training versus simply increasing lead volume and improving lead quality.
Gresham leans toward exploring more targeted lead generation resources, specifically mentioning Alex Hormozi’s content, as potentially more impactful.
Furthermore, he highlights the importance of understanding client pain points to create more relevant content and strategies.

Gresham Harkless 00:28
Hello, hello, hello. This is Gresh from the I AM CEO Podcast. And this is a special episode of our I AM CEO Podcast.
And this is actually going to be a snippet of a snippet, so to speak. I'm just doing an intro because I've been starting to document my journey into starting what is now called Blue Star Franchise.
We're also going to do a kind of sub site within CB Nation called Franchise CEO. So you'll see some links in the show notes related to that.
But just wanted to give you a little bit more insight, give you a little bit more color in some of the aspects of why I'm actually doing this.
Because one of the things I was doing as I was going through training to start up this new business was realizing and hearing from the founder of FBA, the Franchise Brokers Association, that it'd be really cool to document your journey going through and building this out.
I think it's something that would be super helpful, obviously for people that are looking for and thinking about starting franchises.
But frankly, if you're starting anything, any type of business, I think it's really cool to kind of just even see the journey and how it's been going from there.
So I'm going to share a few of those snippets from the, from the first couple of videos that have been created.
But definitely, of course, subscribe to our YouTube, check out a lot more where I figure out exactly where we're going to post this.
So I'll have that information that's available to you. But regardless, if you're a builder, continue to keep building, continue to do your thing.
The world definitely needs exactly what you're trying to build and needs you to be your unique self.
So make sure to run your own race, because nobody can run your race like you. This is Gresh signing out. I hope you have a phenomenal rest of the day.
Just like that is day 164 the franchise broker journey i forgot to record earlier today.
So I'm trying to get this recording in I went for a bike ride a long bike ride and just didn't have the time.
And it just seems to be a common occurrence where I just don't seem to have the time to do everything.
So today we actually had a presentation about a sales mastery program they're having for franchise brokers and I was really intrigued by it.
[restrict paid=”true”]
It's a couple thousand dollars actually but it made me think like what is ultimately the biggest issue that I'm having?
The biggest issue that I'm having is that the training that I didn't that I received wasn't enough or is it that I just need to generate more leads.
Is it really that I'm putting the income in the wrong places or do I need to generate more revenue?
And I'm just very torn about what I ultimately want to do and how I want to make that happen.
But I do believe that having sales training is going to be something that's going to be helpful.
The question is, does it necessarily have to be this? And I think that's something that I really just have to kind of think through and see what is the underlying cause of everything that I'm doing.
And will this investment actually help out? Because I think one of the things that I did see as a module was being able to generate leads.
But I think that I didn't see it as a lead generation course. I would probably just go into like fully 100,000 leads, learning everything about leads, what to do with these all those things would probably be a more valuable thing than probably this.
Because I think at the beginning of this journey, that's mostly what I'm focused on.
It's just how can I generate more leads, more quality leads potentially now too.
So I'm having that shift from just any lead to actually quality leads.
So I'm looking forward to kind of like going through this process to kind of see.
But the more I think about it, I'm not sure if this is going to alleviate, the biggest underlying issue that I have throwing $3,000 that's something that could end up being helpful don't get me wrong.
But I don't think it's going to be that that match that magical and even they said that it's not going to be a magical it's just getting you to pay attention to those things.
And I'm not saying that I couldn't benefit from it but it's the question is with the time and the money which you have to invest both is it going to be worthwhile.
And I don't know yet it would be, so I'm kind of leaning towards not doing it, but I would definitely love to like look into some type of sales course or something along those lines.
I think that that could definitely be helpful for me. But yeah, I mean, I think that even like going through the initial class, they offered a free class.
I wasn't crazy around the content. I wasn't crazy around the delivery of the content.
I thought it was kind of boring. I'm just listening to what people had to say.
Don't get me wrong. I did take notes and did pay attention to things, but it's just like, hey, I don't know if I continue to do that.
It's not that I don't want to say i want to learn because i think the the idea is that maybe i need to sit down and watch you know and listen to actually Alex Hormozi's book and talk around leads.
And like how to generate more and more leads it's really the the big thing that i need to focus more on than anything else.
So that's just my initial thoughts um I got to record this a lot later than I was planning on so we just have to see how everything goes from there.
But I’m tired, I'm missing home definitely in my routines but we'll see what tomorrow holds.
And just take it a day at a time yeah I mean that's kind of it one thing I do want to do a video on which I'll do another video on is this idea in this concept of being able to ask your clients, your potential clients, like what's their biggest pain point?
What are they most afraid of? And I think that that's something that comes up because it could be something that's extremely valuable for future content that could be created to generate leads.
If I'm able to understand what is the pain point of the people that I'm trying to serve, maybe I can provide a solution for them.
So I think that's something I really wanted to weigh in with, but just asking your candidates, asking your clients, your customers, what is keeping you up at night?
What is your biggest pain that is bothering you right now and trying to solve that?
So I think if I'm able to do that, understand that and do that, to be honest, I think that that's probably the most valuable thing I can potentially do intrigued by it.
We'll see what happens, what comes up. But for now, I'm going to just go to sleep and try to get some rest.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. And of course, looking forward to giving you more and more updates.
