IAM2912 – Plant One Seed in the Dream Every Day꞉ How Daily Action Builds Massive Breakthroughs

Special Episode by Gresham Harkless Jr.

Smiling man in front of a collage of faces; text reads: “Plant one seed in the dream every day: how daily action builds massive breakthroughs. Season 9, Episode #2912.”.

The Trap of the Mountain-Sized Vision

A pervasive and quietly paralyzing roadblock for high-performing builders is attempting to conquer an entire ambitious goal at once. When you fixate on the massive end result—the major media deal, the best-selling book, the international product rollout, or the multi-million dollar breakthrough—the sheer scale of the vision can make execution feel impossible. In this episode, extracting high-leverage insights from multi-patent entrepreneur and author Jenny on episode 98 of the I AM CEO podcast, we break down why you must plant one seed in the dream every day—and how small, consistent inputs drive extraordinary enterprise outcomes.

The Entrepreneurship Pillar: What Happens Below the Surface

True execution within the Entrepreneurship Pillar proves that real breakthroughs rarely grow from dramatic, highly visible moments. Much like an iceberg, the vast majority of enterprise success is built on the unglamorous, unseen work happening continuously below the surface.

Progress is built through small, unsexy daily actions: conducting targeted research, sending a cold follow-up email, refining product specs, pitching a new connection, or auditing competitor processes. When you take the time to touch your vision daily through practical execution, you maintain essential strategic momentum and keep your enterprise actively moving forward.

Maintaining Relationship with Your Vision

The core takeaway for any CEO is recognizing that momentum is a fragile resource. When weeks or months pass without meaningful input toward your core goals, the distance between your present reality and your vision grows wider, leading to doubt and inaction.

Your largest strategic objectives do not require you to solve every complex operational challenge today; they simply demand daily evidence that you have not abandoned the pursuit. Ask yourself this defining question: “What specific seed can you plant today that will provide clear evidence that your bigger dream is alive and advancing?”. Committing to small, daily micro-actions is the ultimate lever required to eliminate execution overwhelm and turn ambitious vision into market reality.

Big dreams can feel overwhelming because we imagine the whole mountain at once. The movie deal, the book, the product, the invention, the breakthrough, and the opportunity. It feels too far away until you bring it back to the seeds you can plant today. That's what stood out to me in episode number 98 of the I Am CEO Podcast with Jenny. At the time of our conversation, Jenny was an entrepreneur and inventor with multiple patents and trademarks and a product history that included major visibility, a focus on landing a movie deal for a screenplay based on her novel.

If you're building something meaningful, you're in the right place. This is the I Am CEO Podcast. I'm Gresh, and for over a decade, I've had the honor and the privilege of learning directly from CEOs, entrepreneurs, and business owners just like you on how to build. After recording more than 1,600 episodes, one thing has become clear. Success isn't about following someone else's blueprint. And as I like to say on the show, if you run your own race, you can't lose. Even when you feel the journey should be a straight and linear path, what I've come to find out is success is a lot more like a plate of spaghetti. So, in this special segment and episode, I'm starting to curate and share some CEO hacks and CEO nuggets that I've been dying to share, drawn from thousands of episodes with phenomenal guests that have provided awesome value on the show, but also My 10 years of business experience as well too. These lessons are designed to strengthen the foundational principles that every business is built on and guided by a simple equation that we always go back to with our content: visibility plus resources times connections equals success. This is practical wisdom you can apply almost immediately. So be sure to check out the show notes for more resources and next steps on how to level up. And of course, enjoy this special episode of the I Am CEO Podcast.

The idea that I would run with and sprint with is her line about planting seeds in the garden of your dream every single day. It's so powerful and often so underlooked because it's simple, but it's extremely impactful for builders. Here's the reality and the truth of the journey of entrepreneurship, but frankly, of life, is that dreams don't grow from dramatic moments. They grow from small, consistent actions. One search, one email, one connection, one revision, one pitch, one follow-up, one better version of the product, one conversation with someone who might know the next person. Now, Jenny also brought up during our conversation the SEO hack of Google Search as a practical tool, and that fits into the same idea. Sometimes the seed is not glamorous. It's not sexy. It doesn't belong in a Netflix movie. It might be research. It might be finding the right name, the company, the process, and the path. But the point is that dreams get touched daily and often. This connects to the entrepreneurship pillar. The journey often begins and belongs to the person who's willing to keep moving forward before the big result is visible. We've all seen the level of success where it's not what you see from the iceberg, it's the things that are below that lead to that success. For builders, this is especially important because momentum is fragile. When you ignore the dream for weeks or months, it starts to feel more and more distant. But when you give it one meaningful action every single day, you stay in relationship with it. A question worth thinking about a little bit more is this: what seed could you plant today that would keep your dream, Bigger dream alive and moving. Because the reality is that the dream doesn't need you or require you to solve everything today, but it does need evidence that you haven't ultimately abandoned it. If you're carrying a big vision and a big dream and that feels very far away, this conversation with Jenny is definitely one worth checking out.
