Stephanie McAuliffe 1:28

I am ready.

Gresham Harkless 1:29

Awesome. I definitely appreciate that, I want to hear a little bit more about this wonderful life and how got you started, can you take us through your story? How did your CEO story get started? What led you to get started with your business?

Stephanie McAuliffe 1:39

Sure, so after 27 years on Wall Street, I took a package from my company back in 2015. And what's known what do I want to do now when I grow up? And because when we work in the corporate structure, it is very structured, and we have our rules and conformity. So I wrote a book, which was published almost three years ago, and then said, Okay, what's next? And allowed myself to step into the open question, and explore. I have a background of having grown up around alcoholism, and addiction. And having been through therapy and 12 steps, I saw how stuck people were in their stories. It was after I wrote my book that I started getting energy work, which has now led me to this point of working with clients beyond the 12 Steps in therapy, to clear out the energy that we've internalised that continues to hold us back. And if anybody has ever found themselves repeating the same thing over and over and over with slightly different people in different situations. That's something the universe is giving us a message. And that's my speciality.

Gresham Harkless 3:08

No, I definitely appreciate that. And I remember, when we were initially talking when we initially connected, I think you said that you didn't imagine you were doing this work when you read it on that washi career. And I think that it speaks to kind of what you were saying were being able to I don't know if I want to say shift, but that's what's coming to me shift your story to where you I guess want to see fit or where it takes you is something that it sounds like you help our clients with.

Stephanie McAuliffe 3:33

I do it's fear many times leads us to want to control the things that are around us. And I think we know that we have very little control over anything other than our own emotions. I shifted my story from one of feeling like a victim, and at the mercy of other people, to one of empowerment of how I want to see myself in this life. How and how can I help my clients step into what's next for them?

Gresham Harkless 4:06

Absolutely, and I know you touched on the kind of clients that you work with, you know, have might be dealing with, you know, the alcoholism or whatever, you know, might be affecting them. And I don't know if you find that. It's the loneliness. Sometimes when you're going through those dark moments, you feel like you're by yourself, and you don't feel like there's a way to pivot, let alone, you know, get out of that dark place that you're in. But I feel like that's sometimes what happens. I don't know if that's the same that you see as well.

Stephanie McAuliffe 4:34

Well, it is and we can get mired in it. And there's a lot of shame and shame around this energy in these stories that we continue to carry. And we think we're the only ones who have gone through this. Over half of us have been affected by our loved ones' alcohol dependency. Every single person in this world has experienced trauma at some point in their life. And we want to know how things are going to turn out but we really don't. So it's taking that first step of trusting ourselves and, and trusting that path, just one little bit. And then one little bit beyond one little bit beyond one little bit. And we don't see the changes a lot day over day. But then when you look back three months, six months, a year, a couple of years, I just had a Facebook memory come up yesterday from when I was travelling last year, and I was down in Texas. And I think of the changes even for me that have happened. It's amazing when we just step into that space of the open question. And trust just a little bit more each day.

Gresham Harkless 5:45

Absolutely. I think I always give myself kind of the visual of like, you know, you're chopping a tree and the tree doesn't fall because that last chop that you did is because you've been chopping down the tree over and over again. And sometimes I think we lose sight of the progression of things that we're doing to get to where we want to be. And taking it step by step little by little each and every day is extremely valuable.

Stephanie McAuliffe 6:07

Oh, absolutely. And when we talked the other week, we talked about rocks and water. And how many of us are trying to, you know, roll that rock uphill, it's like Sisyphus, and it just becomes exhausting of trying to push our way through, which was my old MO on Wall Street. And it really just felt like I was constantly just pushing, rather than if you look at a river or a stream, water will always find its way. And so it's letting go of that feeling of we need to be a rock and the fight and allowing some more flow into our lives. And boy, if we aren't being asked to do that right now, in the middle of this pandemic, we can choose to hold on. And, you know, continue to carry those rocks on our shoulders. Or we can say, all right, what can I allow today? Just focusing on today and flow a little bit more.

Gresham Harkless 7:11

Yeah, absolutely. And that's why I think, you know, definitely it was definitely looking forward to this interview, and especially the timeliness of it. But I think, you know, throughout our lives, we always have some type of big issue that might happen. And I think that is important, the same principles that you teach with your clients, and people that you work with happen as well, too. So I know we touched on it a little bit, can you take us through if there's anything additional about how you work with clients, and exactly what you're provided with services abroad?

Stephanie McAuliffe 7:39

So when if you and I were working together, now we are on a Zoom call, just like this. And because of the client-healer relationship that we have, with the energy work that I do, I can tap into your energy I can, I can, a lot of times feel where your physical blocks are, and we will work to unwind and release that energy, we're having an active conversation, because something will come up. And then one of my gifts is being able to quickly bring clients back to the source of where they came from. And then it's looking at that trail, I call it the spiderweb. Because people say things that affect us, and we're all connected. So it's the energy work, it's and the guidance is of having that active conversation while the energy work is happening as well.

It's a combination. The beautiful thing is it's very different from therapy because we can transcend the story. You don't have to drag yourself back through that puddle of mud. And I think that's why so many people are reluctant because they've been to therapy, which is awesome. But only takes us to a certain point. And they don't want to go back there again. Because they and I've been there as well. I don't want to drag myself through the mud. And this is where the energy work is. Like I said, we can transcend there. There are new levels of awareness that you gain. But then it really is leapfrogging and just seeing how things are connected. Because once you have that awareness, your whole world opens up.

Gresham Harkless 9:24

Absolutely. And so I wanted to ask you now for what I call your secret sauce and it can be for yourself or your business. But do you feel like it's that ability to kind of see that is what you've Do you feel like that is your secret sauce?

Stephanie McAuliffe 9:37

It is, it's being able to very quickly tap into what the source is so that my clients can then transcend but it's also being able to sense where your energy is blocked within your body, and then actively work to unwind that and release it.

Gresham Harkless 9:56

Yeah, and it's absolutely powerful. I want us to switch gears a little bit, and I want to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an app or book a habit that you have, or something that makes you more effective and efficient.

Stephanie McAuliffe 10:09

Meditation. And it started with five minutes a day. And now I can sit for 45 minutes, and it feels like five minutes. Meditation.

Gresham Harkless 10:18

Absolutely, love that. So I want to ask you now for what I call a CEO nugget. So that could be like a word of wisdom or a piece of advice. Or if you can happen to a time machine, what might you tell your younger business?

Stephanie McAuliffe 10:28

So I would tell my younger business self to let go of the push. So much energy expended where it didn't need to be.

Gresham Harkless 10:42

Absolutely.

Stephanie McAuliffe 10:43

And if it came to one word, trust.

Gresham Harkless 10:46

Absolutely. And I now wanted to ask you my absolute favourite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. And we're hoping to have different quote-unquote, CEOs on the show. So Stephanie, what does being a CEO mean to you?

Stephanie McAuliffe 10:58

Sharing my gifts with the world.

Gresham Harkless 11:01

And I definitely truly appreciate that definition. I appreciate your time even more, what I wanted to do is pass you the mic so to speak, just to see if there's anything additional, you want to let our readers and listeners know. And then of course, how best they can get a hold of you and get a copy of all of the awesome things you are working on?

Stephanie McAuliffe 11:14

My messages, you are perfect exactly where you are. There is nothing broken. In any of us. Just sometimes the energy to heal. Folks can get to me through multiple media channels on my website, which is Stephanie BMcAuliffe.com. I'm on Facebook and Instagram, I have a weekly blog, and all kinds of goodies on my website.

Gresham Harkless 11:44

Awesome. Well, thank you so much again, Stephanie. We will have the links and information in the show notes as well too, as well as some awesome meditations that you gave for us to share as well. And we will be reminded that we are enough and so many times we're being pulled in and said and being told in so many different ways that we're not but in reality, we have to understand that we are so I appreciate that reminder tremendously.

Stephanie McAuliffe 12:07

Thank you, Gresh, lovely conversation and great being with you here today.
