IAM2806 – Three Untapped Google Business Profile Opportunities for Growth

A smiling man is shown in front of a collage of faces. Text reads: "Three Untapped Google Business Profile Opportunities for Growth, Season 9 Episode #2806.

The Untapped Potential of Your Free Lead Machine

Most businesses are sitting on a powerful visibility tool without ever fully utilizing it. A Google Business Profile (GBP) is more than just a digital placeholder; it is an active engine that drives visibility, trust, and leads without requiring additional ad spend. In this episode, we explore why most builders only tap into a fraction of their profile’s potential and how proper guidance can turn this “ingredient” into a cornerstone of your local marketing strategy.

Why Preparation Creates Confidence in the Modern Customer

Today’s customers are more prepared than ever before—they research and understand exactly who they are talking to long before the first conversation occurs. By going the “extra mile” to fully optimize your profile with keyword-rich descriptions and real photos, you provide the clarity they need to choose you. Highlighting the human impact of your work—such as the confidence a client feels or the relationships a new home project fosters—creates an immediate emotional connection and builds confidence in your brand.

Consistency as the Foundation of Credibility

The core takeaway for any CEO is that credibility is built through consistency, not just volume. Google values a steady stream of reviews and regular updates more than a one-time surge of activity. By establishing a simple system to ask for feedback and engaging with every review, you signal to both Google and potential clients that your business is active and reliable. Remember: you don't always need more tools; you sometimes just need to know how to fully leverage the ones already in front of you.

Most businesses are sitting on a free lead machine and barely even using it. If you have a Google Business profile, you're likely only tapping into a fraction of its potential, even though people are actively searching for what you do you right there on an everyday basis. Hey, it's gresh here and this is untapped potential, an opportunity that most businesses overlook. Whether you're just starting out or potentially already established, here's what your Google Business profile can do. It can drive visibility, trust and leads without ad spend. Don't get me wrong, it can definitely complement any SEO or pay per click campaigns that you might have going on, but only if you actually use it in the right way. Opportunity number one is fully optimizing your profile because most people only fill out the basics and never revisit it. Remember, it's not never crowded along the extra mile, so make sure you go that extra mile. You should add all your services, write a keyword Rich Description choose the right categories and upload real photos that reflect your work. Think not just what you do, but the impact of the things that you do. If you are a hair salon, think about how that hair makes somebody more confident which gives them a promotion. If you are a home remodeler, think about how the family now gets to spend time together and enjoy and deepen their relationship by by having a really well done kitchen. All those things are not just the services you provide, but the impact of the services you provide. And when your profile is complete and active, it starts to build trust before someone even contacts you and helps you to stand out immediately. Think about how prepared the client and the customer is more today than it has ever been. They research, they understand exactly who they're talking with before you ultimately have that conversation. Opportunity number two is reviews, but focusing on the consistency instead of just the volume. Don't get me wrong, having a lot of reviews is going to be extremely important, but the consistency by which you get that is going to be even more important. It's not about getting a lot of reviews at once, it's actually about getting them consistently over a period of time. Because Google values that consistency equals credibility. So think about creating a simple system to ask everybody, client or happy customer, about how their experience was. Send them a direct link or a QR code and make sure you respond to every single review. And don't just say thanks for your review. Make sure you interact and engage with exactly what they say. So what does this do? It builds trust with potential customers, but also signals to Google that your business is active and regularly active. The third opportunity is actually posting on your Google Business Profile, which is, I think, one of the most overlooked features on a Google Business Profile. You can approach your Google Business Profile very similarly to you do to how you do your social media platforms. You can share updates, offer offers, tips, examples of your work, and even posting once a week can make a huge difference. Again, remember, it's never crowded along the extra mile. If no one else is doing this, it may be your opportunity. Posting shows Google your business is active and it helps you to stand out because most businesses never do it. Keep in mind at the end of the day, people are already searching for what you offer and your profile is one of the first things that they could potentially see. One of the things I talk about a lot is understanding the psychology of like where you're marketing. I compare marketing a lot of times to getting ingredients for you to make the recipe or the dish that you ultimately hope to make. If you understand the pros and cons of each of the ingredients, it's going to allow you to go to another level. Google Business Profile is one of those ingredients and it's something that is on a platform where people are already going to just search. Whether it's AI or non AI, it is still part of an experience. So you want to make sure you're there when people are searching. So this actually isn't about doing more marketing, it's about getting more out of what you already have. Get all the juice out of the squeeze that you can. If you're just starting out, this is probably one of the places I would focus first. And if you're more experienced, this may be something you overlooked when you were starting and it might be an opportunity that is very under leveraged.
