Gresham, it's my honor to come on here twice. You know, it's been incredible the last couple of years and like what we're, you know, discussing like what's happened with you and what's happened with me. So I'm just happy to be back here and have a great conversation with you.

Yeah, absolutely. And, life is nothing but a journey at the very least as we've all experienced that in some form, shape, or fashion. So what I wanted to do is just read a little bit more about Zach so I can hear a little bit about some of that journey and hear about all the awesome things that he's been working on.

Let's make it happen then. So to kind of kick everything off, I wanted to rewind the clock and hear a little bit more about how you got started, what I call your CEO story.

Yeah. So you know, the first time we connected, I was mainly in fitness coaching, right? So helping people in building a fitness business in that way. And you know, it was, it was great for what it was because of course the body is very important, right? Our physical health is very important and it contributes to our performance, right?

And the way that we feel about ourselves and the confidence that we have. But I felt like there was something missing inside of there, right? So I have been, I've told plenty of people this like guys, I've had 5 % body fat and still not being confident inside of who I am. So the looks were one thing, but diving into actually how I'm feeling about myself, right? And that's the most important thing.

That's the most important thing I've found in my journey is that you know, we want these things, you know, let's say in a sense of being a CEO and running a company, you know, I want my revenue to increase, right? I want my employees to follow the Sops, stay within the standards of what I have for them, and also perform at their highest level.

These are things that I want to have happen, for example, right? Well, inside of that, if we're not structured with how we feel, we'll end up doing things like overworking, right? Or in the sense that when we're communicating with employees, if we're feeling frustrated, maybe we're going to come off in a way that isn't well received in the communication, right?

So then we're doing all these things, right? So then from that point forward, we have a feeling behind that. Well, let's say we want to make more revenue and I'm overworking. Why am I overworking? I'm overworking because I'm overcompensating for something. What is that? Normally it's because I don't feel and I don't feel adequate. I'm feeling inadequate, I'm feeling unworthy, I'm feeling incapable, right?

And through that process, a lot of guys, a lot of CEOs and a lot of the guys that I work with, that's what they do. They feel like, oh, I just gotta work, work, work, work, work. And then there are some, you know like I love Gary Vee, right? So, but one of the things he always says like work your face off. And I'm like, I get it. What you're saying, but work your face off towards things that are actually working, right?

Not just throwing, throwing work out to be working well. So from that point forward, I feel unworthy. Well, the unworthiness is the problem. The unworthiness is the anchor that ultimately holds us back because it doesn't matter how much you do, it doesn't matter how much you achieve. These achievements don't validate your worth. The validation of the worth comes from the internal right and what we talk about.

So I started to realize I was like, OK, so these are the things that I want, let's say revenue increase. That's what I want. But I really need to start focusing on the characteristics that will give me that, right? So what is the antithesis of inadequacy? Self-belief. OK, well, how do we build self-belief? It's not going to happen from anything of the outside.

It happens from the inside. And that's what started to drive me into really understanding emotional intelligence and consciousness in this way and being able to take something like, let's say, transparency, right, as a characteristic to shoot for. Well, if I shoot for transparency, a lot of things, a lot of wonderful things happen. One, I started to express that I feel inadequate.

I start to express that I feel like I'm not doing a good job and I'm expressing it to people that give me a reflection that either can one say, hey, man, you're you're, you're in your own head. Like look at what we've done, Look how far we've come. Look at the growth that's put forward. Or they can reflect back to me and say, you know, I don't think you're inadequate, but like, hey, you know, there are things that we need to work on, right?

And let's look at those things that we need to work on inside the business. But if I hold that in, what's going to happen? I'm not going to express that they're not going to know the communication. And one of the worst things that happens is that you hold it in every single day because we don't want to act like it exists because forward facing right when we're talking, hey, how's your business doing?

Oh, I'm doing great. Things are awesome. You know, everything is going great and everything else, but you still feel like you're not good enough. So then every single day we're waking up feeling that way. And what I tell my guys is, hey, if you don't want to feel that way anymore, you need to be transparent about it because then you're not holding on to it.

And then you get the reflections back to be able to tell you, hey, get you out of your head and be like, hey, this isn't something that's real for you. So one of the hardest things to do and especially for men is to express their emotions and express emotions of shame, guilt, anger, they want to there's, there's safety or unsafety around expressing anger.

So we hold it in and then it starts showing up in every single other area in our life and creating a self-sabotage. I always tell them I was like, guys, the things that you're hiding from other people are the things that are creating self-sabotage in your life. Once you can start being transparent about it, you'll see the self-sabotage start to melt away. But that takes courage.

That makes so much sense and that's why I wanted to drill down a little bit more here, a little bit more on how you're doing that. How are you, you know, working with your clients? How does that manifest itself and what you feel kind of even maybe sets you apart and makes sure you are unique what I like to call your secret sauce?

Well, first of all, the uniqueness is, is that I'm, I'm teaching a skill essentially it's called emotional alchemy. So to take shame, for instance, something that we feel shameful about and to turn that shame into something that we actually are loved for, right? Well, we can't create love and understanding if they don't understand you and they don't understand you because you're not talking about it.

So the problem that a lot of people experience, not only men people, is that they want love, but they can't quite reach it because they don't want to feel the shame and the guilt that's holding them from the love. So they just stay in this like middle level where it's like feeling anger and maybe a little bit of courage and pride and anger and courage and pride.

But you're, you're, you're missing the thing that you actually want, right? And this is how a lot of men and even entrepreneurs and executives become emotionally numb, right? Because you are numbing your emotions. You're avoiding these things. And then on the consciousness side of things, right? And we talk about consciousness, and the way I use it is in a way of the energy that literally connects all things in this universe, right? Is conscious. And it's an empowering thing to start to step into, to realize that you're cut from the same energy. God's energy is what we can call it that has created this entire universe that is you.

So that can empower you out of like these little, these things where you just don't feel good about yourself or you feel lesser than. It's like no, man, you have everything that you need, but we don't realize that. And then the last thing that I really hold my clients accountable to is a strong level of being their word. Be your word, right? You have an agreement and you make a commitment to yourself. Cool, I'm gonna reflect back.

The highest standard of what you want in your life is through your word. Your word is the creation, right? That's what creates. So if you find yourself right now and you're listening right now and you're feeling not confident, you're doubting yourself. You know you're doing things that you're not proud of, it's because you've set a standard for yourself and you're not meeting that standard. You're not being your word.

I wanted to switch gears a little bit, and I wanted to ask you for what I call a CEO hack. So this could be like an app, a book, or a habit that you have, but what's something that makes you more effective and efficient?

09:00 – Zachary Blakeney

Yeah. So it starts in the morning as most people do in the morning, right? And there's, I want to share these because there's a big thing when it comes to the physical health of what some people do in the morning when it comes to caffeine, right? So if you consume caffeine within the first hour of waking, you are basically caffeine creates cortisol to be produced.

Well, in the first hour of waking. Cortisol is also produced in a natural way to wake you up out of your sleep. So if you disrupt that cycle by drinking caffeine right when you wake up, you're going to need more caffeine throughout the day cause you become desensitized to the caffeine. More caffeine eventually equals higher anxiety and higher stress because what are you doing?

Cortisol also equals stress and anxiety. So now we have the body that's influencing the mind to have anxiety on top of whatever stress you're experiencing inside of your business. That could also be creating that as well. So in the morning, these are a couple of things that I do. One, I set my alarm and put it on in my closet. Do not. So I'm not I'm not it's not by my bed. That means I get out of bed right away. Inside of my closet are my clothes. I'm not making any decisions. I've already done that the night before, put on my clothes. The next thing I do is go directly into the kitchen and I drink 16 ounces of ice-cold water.

This will wake you up faster than coffee because when you're asleep, you're hibernating. When you wake and you go through that, your body is very high temperature and the ice cold water, literally if somebody goes home and does it, you'll start drinking it and your eyes will go from sleepy to like wide awake very quickly. And you're also hydrating yourself immediately. So it's a much more effective way. But we've been conditioned as society says, caffeine, caffeine, caffeine, not realizing all the emotional distress that caffeine causes, which ultimately limits you from being where you want to be.

Nice. I, I love that and I appreciate you talking about it because I don't think a lot of people have that awareness around, the manifestation of caffeine and what it is actually doing, you know, to your body and even to your, your emotional, you know, psyche as well too, and all of those different aspects. But I love kind of hearing your breakdown because the, I think Tony Robbins said in order to win the win the day, you win the morning.

So if you're setting yourself up early for success, if you're doing those things, then you are more likely to have a really, really great day. So definitely appreciate that hack and I wanted to ask you now for what I call a CEO Nugget. So this is a little bit more of a word of wisdom or piece of advice. I usually like to say it might be something you would tell your favorite client, or if you hopped into a time machine you might tell your younger business self.

You already have everything that you want. That's the truth. That's how manifestation happens. People don't understand that. So if I ask somebody like this is always a thing, I say, hey, what do you want? Well, whatever they reflect back on what they want is what they perceive to not be right. So I'm like, so this is what you think that you don't have. But manifestation, and I mean manifestation in a sense of the unseen world's law of attraction. The thing that is true that most people who are really successful have understood is that you already have everything that you need. I don't really have this happen this month. I'll, I'll explain back.

I have a manifestation journal and I wrote it down multiple times. I have $ 75, 000 in new sales from clients over and over and over again. And then I could, I could do a picture and show you guys this month, $77, 000. That was an increase. That was an increase of a 20 % increase from last month. And not only that, I didn't do anything different inside of my business. I didn't do extra Legion. I didn't do anything like that. Same amount of content. I just had people reaching out to me. Hey, man, I'm interested in your program. Hey, man, I'm interested in your program. Where did that come from?

I put out the frequency and already have it. It's mine already. Now do I want to go$ 1,000, 000? Absolutely. Do I have the infrastructure to do$ 1,000, 000? Not yet. I don't want to do something but don't get myself in trouble. But thinking about how you want to manifest is you already have it. And through that process, literally, you will watch things start to happen. If you just have to have trust, you gotta be patient. Can't doubt it. It will come.

I want to ask you now my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. We're hoping for our different quote CEOs on the show. So Zach, what does being a CEO mean?

13:14 – Zachary Blakeney

You and to me and so this is going to come from here in a sense of like, even though I can take this position forward facing, don't consider myself that right, I consider myself a facilitator more and, and, and inside of facilitation. Yes, you take a leadership position, but you're not taking on everything. You facilitate the growth of others. You facilitate tasks, tasks that you don't wanna do. You facilitate, you know, new clients that are coming in or new business that's coming in, right? So you're just taking this role.

And for me, it doesn't give me this hierarchical perspective because the hierarchy to me is the problem. Like my business, how it's set up. Like I have myself and I have my COO, right? But our employees all have an equal say inside of the business. It's not a huge business. I have 5 employees. It's not huge or anything, right? But they get to work and they get to stay. And they also get a vote in some instances of how we're spending more money and what we're doing. And I want them to feel valued in that way. And as they feel valued, they feel more connected to the purpose. They feel more connected to the mission of the business.

And with that, that's something that, you know, I'm planning on growing this thing to 100 employees. I want it to be the same way. I want to be able to make what I would call a unilateral right business practice rather than do what I say, do it now and if you don't do it, I'll find some of that can do it. That's baby boomer guard, man. That that that's what they used to do. That doesn't work these days. You have to be able to see the fact that everybody wants to be valued. Everybody wants to be seen and everybody wants to be loved. And if you can do that in your business, you will get the maximum performance out of everyone every single day.

How about we be joyful in our experience right now? And you can do that. It's just a matter of choice.

The next thing I do is go directly into the kitchen and I drink 16 ounces of ice-cold water.

This will wake you up faster than coffee because when you're asleep, you're hibernating. When you wake and you go through that, your body is very high temperature and the ice cold water, literally if somebody goes home and does it, you'll start drinking it and your eyes will go from sleepy to like wide awake very quickly. And you're also hydrating yourself immediately. So it's a much more effective way. But we've been conditioned as society says, caffeine, caffeine, caffeine, not realizing all the emotional distress that caffeine causes, which ultimately limits you from being where you want to be.

Nice. I, I love that and I appreciate you talking about it because I don't think a lot of people have that awareness around, the manifestation of caffeine and what it is actually doing, you know, to your body and even to your, your emotional, you know, psyche as well too, and all of those different aspects. But I love kind of hearing your breakdown because the, I think Tony Robbins said in order to win the win the day, you win the morning.

So if you're setting yourself up early for success, if you're doing those things, then you are more likely to have a really, really great day. So definitely appreciate that hack and I wanted to ask you now for what I call a CEO Nugget. So this is a little bit more of a word of wisdom or piece of advice. I usually like to say it might be something you would tell your favorite client, or if you hopped into a time machine you might tell your younger business self.

You already have everything that you want. That's the truth. That's how manifestation happens. People don't understand that. So if I ask somebody like this is always a thing, I say, hey, what do you want? Well, whatever they reflect back on what they want is what they perceive to not be right. So I'm like, so this is what you think that you don't have. But manifestation, and I mean manifestation in a sense of the unseen world's law of attraction. The thing that is true that most people who are really successful have understood is that you already have everything that you need. I don't really have this happen this month. I'll, I'll explain back.

I have a manifestation journal and I wrote it down multiple times. I have $ 75, 000 in new sales from clients over and over and over again. And then I could, I could do a picture and show you guys this month, $77, 000. That was an increase. That was an increase of a 20 % increase from last month. And not only that, I didn't do anything different inside of my business. I didn't do extra Legion. I didn't do anything like that. Same amount of content. I just had people reaching out to me. Hey, man, I'm interested in your program. Hey, man, I'm interested in your program. Where did that come from?

I put out the frequency and already have it. It's mine already. Now do I want to go$ 1,000, 000? Absolutely. Do I have the infrastructure to do$ 1,000, 000? Not yet. I don't want to do something but don't get myself in trouble. But thinking about how you want to manifest is you already have it. And through that process, literally, you will watch things start to happen. If you just have to have trust, you gotta be patient. Can't doubt it. It will come.

I want to ask you now my absolute favorite question, which is the definition of what it means to be a CEO. We're hoping for our different quote CEOs on the show. So Zach, what does being a CEO mean?

13:14 - Zachary Blakeney

You and to me and so this is going to come from here in a sense of like, even though I can take this position forward facing, don't consider myself that right, I consider myself a facilitator more and, and, and inside of facilitation. Yes, you take a leadership position, but you're not taking on everything. You facilitate the growth of others. You facilitate tasks, tasks that you don't wanna do. You facilitate, you know, new clients that are coming in or new business that's coming in, right? So you're just taking this role.

And for me, it doesn't give me this hierarchical perspective because the hierarchy to me is the problem. Like my business, how it's set up. Like I have myself and I have my COO, right? But our employees all have an equal say inside of the business. It's not a huge business. I have 5 employees. It's not huge or anything, right? But they get to work and they get to stay. And they also get a vote in some instances of how we're spending more money and what we're doing. And I want them to feel valued in that way. And as they feel valued, they feel more connected to the purpose. They feel more connected to the mission of the business.

And with that, that's something that, you know, I'm planning on growing this thing to 100 employees. I want it to be the same way. I want to be able to make what I would call a unilateral right business practice rather than do what I say, do it now and if you don't do it, I'll find some of that can do it. That's baby boomer guard, man. That that that's what they used to do. That doesn't work these days. You have to be able to see the fact that everybody wants to be valued. Everybody wants to be seen and everybody wants to be loved. And if you can do that in your business, you will get the maximum performance out of everyone every single day.
